Cruisin In My Mind Posted June 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Hi - we are taking the Horizon from Philly in July - anyone know where the Port is relative to the airport and train station? We are coming from Boston and trying to figure out the best logistics for the "port stuff". Any suggestions about getting to the port, etc. are appreciated. HOSKI Posted June 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2004 I can not help you with the directions because we drove to Philly from western PA but I can tell you this was the most friendly, clean, well organized port I have gone out of. I wish Carnival would go back there. We almost took the Horizon out in Sept but went with a different cruise. Try doing a web search on the Philly port and have a great trip. This was a great start to our cruise. Cruisin In My Mind Posted June 7, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 7, 2004 Thank you HOSKI - much appreciated. I checked the maps, etc - looks like the airport is very convenient. I'll do a post after our trip with the details for other first-timers like us. Again, thank you CIMM
MNYTRPS2GO2 Posted June 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Although I have never sailed out of Philly I don't live too far and I am familiar with the area. Both the airport and the train station are within a few miles of the port with plenty of taxis available.
CruisinBabe Posted June 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Hi! I live in the Philly suburbs and I have sailed out of Philly. The airport is closest and more convenient to the port than the train station. Airport is basically right around the corner from the port. Any other questions I can help you with?? woodofpine Posted June 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2004 IN Philly - You cab to "Bookbinders" restaurant [15th street] (one of the oldest restaurants in the USA, in the original capital) for turtle soup with sherry (a Philly Main Line specialty) and crab cakes (the best) from down river; a beautiful local food combo. Then you cab, for a walk around Rittenhouse Square - Philly's boutique equivalent to NYC's Grammercy Park/S. Central Park (Bigger than Grammercy [x 2-4], smaller then Central - by mega-acreage)
sundeck Posted June 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2004 What day are you sailing? Are you a sports fan? If you fly in a day early, perhaps you could take in a Phillies game at our new Citizen's Bank Park! don't forget to have a cheesesteak and a soft pretzel before you leave!
