Galveston

I know from past experience and general consensus that it is best to get a flight from the Florida ports ater 12 noon. Do we need more time from Galveston-as the distance to Houston is greater? Travel agent said IAH is best choice--any opinions on the airport?

 

How long of a drive is it from port to airport?

We live around Dallas so I do not have info on the airports we always have driven. As far as the drive from Houston to Galveston, it's about an hour or so, maybe more maybe less, depending traffic.

hi, Hobby is closer to Galveston than IAH and I'd allow about an hour to getto Hobby from Galveston, IAH is about 2 + hours from Galveston, I'd check the milage to be sure

i'd try to fly into HOU instead of IAH. HOU is a lot closer to Galveston than IAH (by 30 miles, according to google maps), you'd save about an hour in transport from airport to port.

you will have more direct flights into IAH

HOU will be easier and faster to get in and out of

Southwest is the predominant carrier out of HOU

Continental is the major carrier out of IAH

 

Depending on where you are flying from......do you want to spend a little more time driving from IAH to Galveston or a little more time on a connecting flight (if you need a connecting flight) into HOU

When we lived in Houston (the Spring area) which is somewhat close to IAH. When we went to Galveston on a Sunday to go to the beach it took us 1- 1/2 hours to get there,with some traffic.
