cricket_7 Posted January 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Are you allowed to switch from an early saver rate to another sale rate and if so what are the penalties? Or are there no penalties and I would just get the new rate and not have the price guarantee? Here is why I ask and someone please jump in if you have a better suggestion on how to deal with this situation. We booked an early saver rate for 4 people in 1 room. At the time, my husband didn't think he would be able to go. If things changed, his dad would also be going which would not pose a problem because I could just add a room and make a key switch when we got on the ship. Circumstances changed and now his dad will not be going. If my husband is able to go, I don't want to pay double for a room and I really don't want to chance waiting for a single supplement sale and then it not happen before our sail date (May 16th is when we sail). So I'm thinking that there might be 2 options. Could I call my PVP and ask them to book a double room and move 1 of us to that room with my husband? Would I only be paying the $50 change fee? If so, I assume the early saver room would still be early saver and would switch to the pricing for a room for 3. I understand I would have to pay full deposits on the other room. I'm just wondering if this would be possible and if $50 would be the penalty. Option 2. Could I switch from early saver to some other rate that allows changes. If so, what rate do you think I should try to get? Also, if any of this is possible, does it matter if this happens before or after final payment date? I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row in case my husband is able to go. Thanks so much for the advice!!!
serene56 Posted January 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) no- once you are early saver that is it. You can price match to another rate but will stay Early saver. it will cost you 50pp to make that change if you really wanted to do that I-- another rate you can make changes up til final payment is due-- after that you pay the penalties. when is your final payment due? cricket_7 Posted January 22, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2015 when is your final payment due? My final payment is due on March 2nd. So if I do make the change and move 1 person to the other room do I have to do this before final payment? Or can I still pay the penalty after final payment and make the switch? MCC retired Posted January 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2015 You can give up your ES rate and cabin for another rate code without the price protections anytime . However changing occupancy may not be permitted.
