How long is your zipline excursion? That will make a big difference on what sorts of things may be possible afterwards....
grhokie Posted February 5, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted February 5, 2015 shorter ones. It's 3-4 hours I think. They provide transportation and pick us as soon as we get off the ship. reedprincess Posted February 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2015 So, odds are you'll be back to ship around 12:30/1. If it's Rainforest Adventures, that's about 40 minutes from the pier, so be sure to account for travel time.... If you're back to the dock around 12:30, 1, that doesn't leave much time for going elsewhere. You could take a walk over to the craft and food market across from the pier, lots of local made crafts (and the Chinese made tchochkies), amazing spice marke, local produce market and meat market all in one, with several local food stalls to sample some local food. And then perhaps a walk over to Derek Walcott Square in town, and to see the cathedral... Or take a walk over to Vigie Beach for a swim.... Enjoy your visit. grhokie Posted February 5, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted February 5, 2015 instead of going straight back to the ship? Maybe asking the driver to take us somewhere else near there, if there is anything. reedprincess Posted February 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2015 instead of going straight back to the ship? Maybe asking the driver to take us somewhere else near there, if there is anything. As they are providing transportation, it is from ship to course and back....they may or may not have other guests, etc. Plus, not anything else in the area anyways. The zipline course is out in the rainforest, and there is no other attractions of sites in the area it's located, hence the pristine rainforest and views. And you also really don't pass anything along the way out there. Given that the driver is contracted for a to/from trip, very low odds that he will deviate to take you elsewhere. Sorry, but that's not in their purview. If you catch a ride with a local taxi operator instead of the provided transportation, they will be happy to take you elsewhere afterwards, but that's a big extra expense as you have provided transportation with your tour. Enjoy your visit.
mrobinson Posted February 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We just returned from doing the hipline. We got back around 12:15. We went back to the ship, changed clothes and grabbed some lunch. We then went back out and walked around for an hour or so, visiting the local market etc. We loved the zipline- there were 8 of us and it was fantastic. SophieJ Posted October 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2015 we're ziplining in the morning. Any suggestions or where to go or what to do afterwards? Thanks! Did you end up doing this zip line tour? I am thinking about signing up for one of the combos that includes the hike to the waterfall. How much extra do they charge for transfers from the cruise ship? Is the transfer cost per person?
Nebr.cruiser Posted December 29, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2015 We did the Treetop zipline directly through the company a couple of weeks ago. The zipping was fun and very well run. Unliked many ziplines you have to climb steps up to many of the platforms; I did ok but my husband got pretty tired. (We're both around 70 and have zipped before). We rode in an open air jeep to the forest and back; it does take at least 40 min. each way and the road is hilly and curvy, but nice. The walk to the waterfall was easy but with some slick spots; we didn't climb the falls but another person with us did; the waterfall is a ways from the bottom of the hike and it looked pretty rocky and slippery to get to it, so we opted for caution. We had to be back at the ship by 3 or 3:30 and got back around one or so. We had plenty of time to walk around and shop if we wanted (we didn't) but we were ready to relax on the ship.
