cnjoy26 Posted February 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2015 hi! going on my first cruise on the freedom of the seas, western, in july! i was trying to budget my money and four out of the five excursions do not come with food. I am going to be going to labadee, falmouth, jamaica, and grand cayman islands. I was wondering the options for food at these stops around the dock/where the ship docks. Are there many options? What are the choices like and the prices? Do you have to pay using your seapass card or can you use cash or debit? Thank you for any help!!! Clarea Posted February 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Buffet lunch is provided on Labadee. The lunch is something like 11:30am to 1:30pm. If you miss it, you can always walk back to the ship and eat.
BLAMBKY Posted February 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) How long and what type of excursions are you planning? Short excursions, you might be back on the ship. Beach excursions, there are often little places to grab a bite. Our (not booked through the ship) Jamaica excursion did not show a lunch stop but we made one to Scottie's, yummo! I do not remember if my husband used cash or credit. Side note- we do not use debit for travel, only secured credit card. LeeW Posted February 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2015 With the exception of Labadee, nothing on shore is controlled by the cruise line so it is a mostly cash environment. Some larger restaurants/bars and gift shops may take credit cards but many will not. The GC tenders go into a major town and the developed port in Coz is very close to a major town. Falmouth only has the port area, but it is very large and modern. All places accept US dollars everywhere. For the most part we wait to eat until back onboard but lots of folks like to eat and drink onshore. Choice is yours!
