Viking Crossing 2016

Hi everyone,

 

I'm a novice cruiser looking at the 17-day Viking Crossing on the Zuiderdam scheduled for August of 2016. It goes from Copenhagen to New York, with an amazing itinerary.

 

I've done a dummy booking and it will cost just over $6,O00 for an inside j-category guarantee (single occupancy). This seems very expensive compared to what I've paid this year for a 17-day transPacific crossing, even allowing for different seasons (late April vs Height of summer), and in comparison with current prices for Northern European cruises in summer 2015.

 

I know that no one can predict future pricing, but is there a way of finding out what has typically happened in the past for similar transatlantic crossings?

 

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

This is a very popular cruise!

 

Maybe the pricing will decrease. It usually does, but not by much. You might get lucky.

I'm disappointed that the Viking Passage in 2016 does not include the stops in the Faroes and Shetlands that the trip this year has. I'm going to wait another year and hope they can make it better!

I just looked at the HAL site and see that the 2015 version is sold out, at this early date.

 

This cruise is priced lower than the VOV, Voyage of the Vikings, a 35 day TA, or as east or west bounds, that sails in July. This might have something to do with it being so popular to be sold out now for August!

I may wait and book it as a "future cruise".

This is one of those 'once a year' cruises that usually cost more and sell out very quickly so when next year's cruise is posted, recommend you book thru a TA then watch the fares and try for a discount.

this cruise isn't sold out yet, there are still veranda cabins available. The Neptune suites are sold out. I didn't check any of the other categories but you can still reserve veranda cabins on both the navigation and veranda decks. I looked at the whole cruise, not either of the two segments separately.
