My DH and I are thinking of booking a cruise on the Caribbean Princess out of Houston next year. We have never been on Princess. We have been on Disney, Royal and Carnival. Would you tell me what things we can look forward too about the ship or the line. I have read a lot of reviews etc. How is the internet on board? I am on a sugar free diet-will there be any problems.? We like to attend the shows. etc. Thank you ahead of time for your insights-they are appreciated.:)

We have been on RCCL, Norwegian, and Princess. I think my favourite at this point is Princess. My favourite thing (actually one of many!) is the MUTS!:p Movies Under the Stars! We are not night owls/party animals, so we don't tend to stay up very late, but the MUTS is a wonderful way to end a fun filled day! Cozy blankets, popcorn and milk and cookies! Love it!! Can't wait for our next cruise on the CB in 45 days...!:D

I feel the shows on Disney were better than Princess. You will find many different kinds of entertainment going on in the evenings. There is always a comedian onboard, maybe an illusionist or magician, as well as several musical groups from strings to big bands. There are also plenty of other things in the evenings to do such as trivia games, games that have lots of participation from those cruising, the casino, bars for dancing and so on.

As far as a sugar free, I have never seen so many choices for someone on such a diet! Many selections in the buffet and International cafe for desserts. Each night in the main dining rooms, there is always a sugar-free choice. Your waiter and MD can help you select some of the menu items, if need be as they sometimes have cold soups on the menu and they may have some sugar in them. But they will help you out.

Internet costs money and can be finicky. The one word of wisdom is - be sure you are logged out when done! I just got off the Royal and I had such wonderful helpers in the internet cafe set things up on my iPad for me. It was great!

The thing we like is the teatime in the afternoon. We also like sitting in the piazza, listening to the strings play music. So civilized! And MUTS- Movies Under The Stars. Don't miss it at least once!

You can get an idea of what happens on a Princess ship by looking at some of the daily list of events which on Princess is called The Princess Patter.

Following is a link to some Patters from another ship in a different part of the world, but other than lectures aimed at that itinerary the types of activities will be the same. However, the Caribbean Princess itinerary will not have any meaningful lectures. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2051567

For the question about WiFi on board, it will be near the same as is available on most RCCL ships. The WiFi is available in all staterooms in some form or the other. Princess has a lot of sugar free desserts available at every meal and you can discuss with the MD and chef your dietary requirements ahead of time. They will come out to talk to you during your dinner about the dinner the next night and will adjust the food to your diet. You will need to eat dinner in the MDR however either in TD or ATD. The IC and HC both will have clearly labeled desserts that are sugar free at every meal.

There always has been a comedian and an illusionist aboard along with their production shows by the Princess entertainers for nightly shows. The shows run around 30 minutes long or so. MUTS is a large TV screen mounted above the lido deck pool where movies are shown every night and special presentations during the day. They always have several bands on board that play rock, country and easy listening along with a pianist in the various bars. In the center of the ship is the piaza a large somewhat circular area that is three decks high (decks 5,6 and 7) where they have different performers such as pianists, two or three person bands etc. Since you are cruising out of Bayport there is a high chance of some Mexican music offered from time to time in the piaza.
