funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted April 5, 2015 This is a view of the side of the bus: Our driver explained that we would be stopping at a waterfront area and there was a man there who would show us some sea life, and he works for FREE...but there was a wooden tip box. We saw some pretty neat stuff and my hubby even held some of the things (whatever they were, lol) so we left a few bucks in the tip box. There were different "things" for different people to hold:
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #52 Share Posted April 5, 2015 This next group of photos were taken in the same area. There was a platform on top of some stairs that you could climb for a little better view.
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #53 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Then there was the iguana stop. All it was really was a place on the side of the road, but many iguanas were there! People were there throwing food so that they would be visible to us. Some were spotted by us hiding back in the brush area. They wouldn't let humans get too close, but many gathered around, trying to get their pictures. Then we made our way to Orient Beach. This little restaurant was on our way down the little lane to the beach. Our driver is on the left side of this next picture. By the way, his name was Simon. He explained to us where we could find restrooms, changing rooms, and he told us that we could grab a chair on the beach, and someone would come around to collect the $10 for two chairs, or whatever it was. No one ever came to us to collect money. So for us it was free. I don't know if this is the norm or not. By the way, this was the "family" side of the beach. I did see one topless woman though. My husband got a kick out of that. lol There was a restaurant and a place for drinks right in this area. We sat in the second row of chairs. The beach was beautiful. The waves seemed a little rough that day. Nothing too terrible, just not peaceful as other beaches we visited this trip.

michiganredrose Posted April 5, 2015 #55 Share Posted April 5, 2015 We did Bernard's tour also. Had a great day. The sea urchin guy decided to have my daughter hold all of his critters. She didn't know the black one was poisonous until we got home and I mentioned it.
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #56 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Next stop was Marigot Bay. It is just an area with many vendors, sort of like a flea market type thing. But also in this area is Serafina's, a famous bakery. I definitely wanted to check this place out. Besides, we were getting hungry (already!) so as soon as we got off the bus, off we went. Only to be met by a long line. But we patiently waited. I have never seen so many things at a bakery! We found a sub (not like Subway!) and an eclair, which we split between us. The prices were reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious. The place was packed! Back up a little, first some pics on the ride to Marigot Simon pointing out something in the distance, lol An Iguana! Beautiful Marigot area

funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #58 Share Posted April 5, 2015 A glimpse into Serafina's: We sat out here. See this bug? That was crawling on my leg! I about screamed!
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #59 Share Posted April 5, 2015 After we ate, we went back to our tour group, I had time to take a few pictures, but no time to really do any shopping. Serafina's was worth it. I'd gladly give up shopping for that place! Some type of fort off in the distance
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #60 Share Posted April 5, 2015 A couple of other photo stops, then we were off to Maho beach. We were here before, and saw the planes coming in / departing. But I don't think we saw a "big" plane. Simon told us that we could stay here 45 minutes, but if a "big" plane was scheduled to depart, that we could stay longer and it would be okay. There were a couple of planes and we stayed a little over our designated time due to one at the end. And looking at the time stamp on my pictures, I think that we may have arrived back at the port much later than I had originally thought. Anyway, a couple of other photos and then we are at Maho Beach to see planes! I didn't get many photos because I attempted videos. Those did'nt turn out so well either because I almost got blown away :-O Not much beach space here by the way. A couple of bars/restaurants here. After that, it's time to go back! A ship photo as we neared the port again. Simon dropped us off at the same place he picked us up. We had a fun day!! Hope you enjoyed the pictures and it was informative. guidobiker Posted April 7, 2015 #64 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Deck 8, aft. It use to be my favorite, in fact, last September it was fabulous. if your daughter goes again she will notice the differences for sure. ************************************************************************************************************************************** Thanks. Hopefully he will not migrate to the Lido deck in 3 1/2 weeks. :D Will let my daughter know of your comments. As some cruises are better than others we have never had a bad cruise. We go with the flow and do not sweat the little things. 26 days till we sail away. :)

funinthesun1964 Posted April 7, 2015 Author #66 Share Posted April 7, 2015 The menus: I don't have the full menus, but noticed they had some of the old favorites, plus addition of a few things. Gone were the "comfort foods" such as meat loaf, fried chicken, hamburger, etc. They added a few new desserts. They still had the Indian Vegetarian, which I like to get every now and then. Also, for another vegetarian entree, they had Quinoa with something or other...forget exactly what else, but it was really good! Will post some food pics: The first night I had the vegetarian Lasagna: Friend had the salmon: Hubby had the fried shrimp: They added a new kind of cake, cannot remember what it was called Still had the creme brulee:

funinthesun1964 Posted April 7, 2015 Author #68 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Forgot this one...on the last night one of the "light" desserts was a baked apple. It was just okay, I don't think I would get it again. I only ate a couple of bites of it. Friend had carrot cake. Said although it was good, it didn't taste as sweet as she had expected. funinthesun1964 Posted April 7, 2015 Author #69 Share Posted April 7, 2015 We had Early Dining, assigned. Our MDR waiter was named Russell. He was fabulous. Very nice and extremely efficient. If you are lucky enough to have Russell for a waiter, you're in for a treat. We had I Gede for an assistant waiter and the third assistant was Dorio (or something like that), I didn't get a picture of the assistants. Russell Here we are with Felipe, the Cruise Director. I went up to him, hugged him, and I said "I saw you on the Victory"!. I planned on doing and saying the same thing every day for the rest of the cruise (haha), but I only saw him one other time, and from a distance! A waiter in the aft lounge on Promenade deck. I think karaoke was going on this night. We did a couple rounds of shots here
