Glory 4 Day Review -- Such a Shame

Recommended Posts

sorry, but I just can't understand where you're coming from...

It's easy where I come from the ship was packed and the service was not to its standard in some areas (this particular time) but to say the crew was terrible and I'll never book carnival when you had one experience out of 5 10 or 15 cruises makes no sense to me to all. They had a bad steward and the mdr wasn't that good because why they were busy. I just don't get how a couple mistakes or not getting it your way makes your cruise bad. If you want it your way go to Burger King (but they probably couldn't get it right either)

More people need to stay at home and look after themselves then they know for sure they are getting excellent service 100% of the time and then they do not have to worry about others looking after themselves for them.

I just still think your comments are absolutely unbelievable. It's like you didn't even read what I said.

You know that every single cruise is pretty much sold out right? There is no such thing as them being "busy". A cabin steward will always have all of those rooms to clean. The MDR will always be full. Cruise lines fill rooms at a deep discount or give them away for free to casino patrons before sailing with empty cabins. So your excuse for them being "busy" doesn't hold up. A MDR isn't "busier" than normal. My cruise on the allure of the seas with 6000 passengers and a full ship, we managed to have wonderful and friendly service.

Yes I think there is definitely such a thing as nitpicking. I would not complain about things that can't be controlled. I would not complain about the layout of the ship. I would not complain about missing a port. I would not complain about rough seas, or rude passengers. None of that is the cruise lines fault. But just because someone is sailing during spring break does not give the cabin steward a reason to fail to clean your room. It does not give the MDR servers to be rude. You say, well if the MDR servers are unacceptable, that's totally excusable, just go to the buffet. Are you kidding me? We PAY for that experience in our cruise fare. We PAY for it just as much during spring break as any other time of the year. You make absolutely no sense.

None of this would RUIN a vacation for me. Not at all. But I would shop around next time it came to choosing a vacation.

I've read some silly things here on CC, but that one's up there with the silliest. You make it sound as though it was unreasonable for the OP to expect excellent service simply because they sailed during a busy time. Fact is, the service should ALWAYS be excellent, no matter when people sail, and no matter what they pay. Getting an entrée wrong, or not remembering to fill the shower gel is one thing...after all, people are human...but there's NEVER an excuse for being rude, especially because it's the busy time.

I wonder just how forgiving you'd be if you had new brakes put on your car, and when you pulled out into traffic for the first time the new brakes failed. I can hear it now, "Oh, it's ok, I understand you're busy." Yeah, right.

Now that is silly you're talking car brakes (person's life at risk) and a cruise (non necessity) big difference. I will accept mistakes in a non necessity situation like a cruise or burger king and will ask nicely for them to fix it. It will not ruin my cruise and it will not ruin my vacation and it will not ruin 1 incident with the brand I choose. No not all cruises are full at certain time of dates that's where you're wrong.

You must be one of the "entitlement people" No wonder the service industry is what it is today it's people like you who do all the complaining over one service and expect 100% perfect every time and service people quit because you need them to be perfect so the industry gets saturated because you've probably pushed a service persons buttons one to many times and they had enough and quit.

You want good service treat people with respect and dignity and not as a servant to your every needs.

You want good service stay home and hire a butler or a maid but maybe he/she won't fulfill your needs or wants either to your satisfaction.

First of all, I find it sad (and a bit humorous) that the best you can come up is throwing a label on me. For all I know, you might be a wonderful person who's opinion I just happen to disagree with; too bad you couldn't afford me the same courtesy. It's ok, I'm pretty think-skinned; I can handle it.

Second, no one said anything about expecting things to be perfect 100% of the time. What I said was the service should always be excellent; there's a different between being perfect and delivering excellent service. IMO, the way someone deals with a problem or diffuses a situation can be a sign of providing excellent service. Trust me, I am not the unreasonable, demanding ogre you so unwittingly accused me of being. I think there are plenty of silly, unimportant reasons people whine about their cruise experience, but rudeness isn't one of them. If you're willing to shrug off someone being rude, well, that's your option.

And finally, you don't know me; you have no idea if I treat people with dignity or not. But since you went on the attack, I'll tell you. When my wife and I started cruising with our kids, we sat them down and told them that they WILL treat the crew with respect; and to say "please", "thank you" and "excuse me." We told them the crew is there to do a job, and they are not anyone's slave. Luckily, they've remembered that, and now that they're older (20 and 24), I'm as proud as can be of how they treat people.

That said, I expect the same thing from the crew in return....simple respect and politeness.

Amen. Hockey guru is still not understanding the difference between a mistake, and something that isn't a mistake. He/she keeps referring to mistakes.

A rude person is NOT making a mistake. That individual make a decision or a choice to be rude. It's not the same thing as forgetting to fill someone's shower gel. I am in sales and I will never understand how some people can not see the difference. You ALWAYS have a choice as to whether or not you are going to be rude, or at least TRY to give something 100%. But when someone is not TRYING, or CHOOSING to be nasty to you, that's is completely unacceptable.

Hockey guru is seriously making absolutely no sense and making comments that do not even relate to the OPs concerns and our responses.

And also hockeyguru, it is absolutely a fact that the ships sail at 99%+ capacity. They would rather give the room and food away to a passenger that will spend thousands at the casino. Carnival knows who they are. Try to see how many cabins are left at any given sailing right before the cruise. They absolutely fill those rooms.

Perhaps some of the crew were less than accommodating because they grew tired of people mocking them....

"Why we standing outside of cabin?"

"I so sorry for your family. I got key if no one come."

Yep, that's exactly what I was doing by quoting verbatim in this review what the cabin steward (who was not mine) said to me so I could receive less than accommodating service from our assigned cabin steward. SMH.

We sailed the March 26th cruise on the Glory as well - we have sailed many Carnival cruises and thought this one was the most disappointing. While we have sailed on 4-day cruises once before, I thought the mix of passengers was definitely a party, party crowd. Also, I was not impressed with the DJ who said on one morning - no screaming - who is going to get wasted today!!

Also, we felt that the quality of food compared to our 7-day cruise on the Liberty last year was very poor. WE are not picky eaters and the food overall was not good. Dining room was only good one night and the Lido deck food was just a recycling of items from prior meals.

So glad we had a balcony room since we were on our balcony most of the time. Our table was right next to the waiters area so it wasn't great but at least we had a table for 2.

For the $1100 we paid for the cruise, it assuredly was not worth the money.

Time to take a break from cruising and Carnival I guess. We did have a great experience with our pre-cruise stay for 3 nights on South Beach (got out just in time for Ultra Music) and then 2 nights post before returning home.

Sorry the same cruise was disappointing for you. I'm glad your pre-cruise and post cruise was great! Better cruises for the both of us next time!

So sad reading this, she's one of my favorite ships! But they always say to avoid the Victory during March / Early April, and this year, Glory got the 4/5 night spring break run. Poor Glory and all of her crew. she's a great ship! Sorry about your vacation, glad that you kept a positive attitude and didn't let it ruin the entire thing!

I have been on the Glory for 5-7 day cruises. While I have seen rude guest it did not ruin my trip. The one instance that some guest were out of hand I notified a ships officer and it was dealt with immediately. Carnival cruises are inexpensive comparatively so you will get more of an unruly element. This has never ruined my vacation. I don't care what the name of my cabin steward is and if I need him I call him on the phone and he's right there. I can get my own ice is necessary. Slow service, then get in contact with the Maître d (which I have done and my service got much better). If guest is rude to crew or throwing food on the floor then just say something to them or a ships officer. I'll bet they stop. I never let the behavior of someone else determine my vacation and I never accept poor service.

I, unfortunately, don't do well around rude people.....guest or service people. For years I was in the service industry and I can tell you from first hand experience that being rude or obnoxious will only get you pay back....one way or another.

Now I know that I am not Carnival's target guest, however I am booked on the Glory for May 23rd because my daughter picked it for her graduation present. As far as gratuities go, I am a very good tipper for good service....I've been there....and a very good complainer for poor service.

I don't expect "white glove" treatment....I am not paying for that, however I am not going to eat next to the pig family or stand in line while some butt head berates a server.

After reading these posts, I am not sure what to expect but my mission is to make sure my daughter has a fun trip.
