We have done this before and the results were fine because a. We had our line of credit pre-set b. We were mindful of how much we could spend. With that said, how do we use the onboard credit we have received as a result of booking. I.e. Spa treatment aboard the Wonder in Oct. How does this work? Thanks! OBC can be used to cover any charges to your onboard account. This includes shore excursions, gratuities, alcoholic drinks, gift shop purchases, adult dining, as well as spa services (and nursery, if you use it). It's a credit that's placed on your account, any charges to your onboard account will be deducted from the OBC first. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
moki'smommy Posted April 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2015 The way DCL works payments is that they use up any onboard credit first (applying it against charges), then they use any "funny money" like Disney Visa rewards dollars or gift cards, and finally any cash that you have applied toward the account. Lastly they would bill a credit card if you had one placed on the account. If you place no credit card, you are permitted to charge up to a certain amount over whatever cash you have placed on the account (amount depends on length of cruise). You will be notified of this amount initially and will be notified in your cabin if you reach this amount with a request that you go to Guest Services and settle the account at your earliest convenience. Normal onboard credit can be used for anything on board--spa, excursions, nursery, gratuities, purchases, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

moki'smommy Posted April 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2015 They ask for an amount per cabin based on the length of the cruise but you don't have to spend that amount or even put it toward the account. cb at sea Posted April 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2015 If you have, say, $100 OBC, the 1st $100 you spend is taken care of by the OBC. It's simply a credit.
