jknacke Posted April 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Looking to board the first ferry to St. George from dockyard on our first day in port. We plan on being in line early but I was wondering if anyone had any previous experiences to know if it fills up fast?
flowers44 Posted April 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2015 The ferry they use for the St. George run has been a commuter ferry from Rhode Island for the last several years. It is a very large ferry and I have never seen anyone left standing on the pier because it was full. I believe it holds at least a couple hundred people easily. njhorseman Posted April 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) It depends on which ships are in port. We were there once when two large ships, Norwegian Breakaway and Explorer of the Seas, were both at Dockyard, and the ferry was jammed...and people did line up quite a bit in advance of the ferry's scheduled departure. Some people did get left behind on our return trip to Dockyard in the afternoon because the ferry had made several runs to St. George's, and very few people return to Dockyard on the earlier trips so the number of passengers who need to return builds up during the day. On the other hand if there's only one ship in port, or two smaller ships, there are obviously smaller crowds. jknacke Posted April 19, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted April 19, 2015 Ok great! I looked at the schedule and the summit will be docked with us and it's much smaller than Breakaway. We'll make sure to be in line early:)
