It shocks me how many people pay for something you can get for free by showing up an hour later.

It shocks me to see how some people think their values should be the same as everyone else's values.

But, based on your thought, you can show up an hour late for sailing from port and you're right, there will be no line at all!!! :D

We always purchased it also, but last year, no one was able to go to their cabin until about 1:45. Everyone was a little upset, but hey, we were on the ship. This year we will not be purchasing.

I liked it and can understand why people purchase. This year we are seeing how it goes without.

If you were prevent from getting the full value, I can see where that might entitle you to a partial refund

Capitalism is an economic system and a mode of production in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned. Such private firms and proprietorships are usually operated for profit, but may be operated as private nonprofit organizations.:eek::eek:

LOL, you obviously haven't seen how they treat you luggage when you aren't looking. I would be afraid one of them would pop open on all my clothes in the luggage. I have had several pieces of luggage damaged over the years from the time I drop them off to when they get to the cabin.

in 23 cruises never had a water bottle or sod break nor have ever had any luggage damaged, luck of the draw I guess

I am Platinum, but when I wasn't I couldn't wait for the boarding perk.

The main reason is it has taken me up to 2 hours to check in and board the ship. I have found that the line and the length of the wait can vary depending on the port and the time you arrive.

It took me 2 hours when I got to the NY port around 2 pm after working half a day. The line went on forever and I ended up being one of the last to board.

ON the other hand after becoming platinum and taking a cruise out of Miami, there was just a short wait to board for non VIP cruisers.

At this point I have done about 17 Carnival cruises and always carry a back pack and a duffel (all my luggage) when I walk on . I do like the fact that with FTTF I can now drop off my stuff in the cabin once I board and not wait till 1:30 or 2:00. (No one could do so before FTTF)

I must admit I love being one of the 1st to board and not have any lines in the buffet area for lunch.

Exactly.

But I have realized that in the part of the country in which I live salaries are lower than in other parts.

So, for some people $60 is less money than it is for me.

If I had $60 to throw out the window it would go to St Jude or to rescue animals from the high kill shelters here.

That is kind of a condescending comment. You would spend the $60 on animals because they are more worthy, but think nothing of spending thousands on a cruise (all of the sudden forgetting about those needy animals)? :D:confused:

You do what makes you happy and I will continue to do what makes my cruises easier, best of luck

No matter what rule you break, right? By the tone of your voice I have to assume you're a chogger, smuggler, and line breaker as well since most likely that will make your cruises easier.

For me, it's not about getting on board faster, it's about getting to drop off my stuff in my cabin as soon as I get on board, bypassing the main line at Guest Services, and getting priority tender service.

I usually sail solo, and I'm tired of trying to juggle a plate, drink, silverware and napkin, plus my carry-ons in the buffet during lunch. And then, if I want seconds or desert, I have to get up and drag everything with me again. I don't have anyone to watch them, so I have to carry them with me, and it makes it much more difficult.

I've had cruises where I've had to go to guest services several times in one day for various things going wrong with my room. Each time, I had to stand in a long line for service. It would have been really nice to have FttF on that cruise, since the VIP line was either very short or empty every time I was there.

And since $60 is less than 2 hours of work (or 1 hour of overtime), I'm not upset at all about spending it. Plus, what's another $60 when I'm dropping considerably more on the cruise itself?

This will be my first FTTF. I have always arrived at the cruise port before 11:am, and I have always boarded in time to have lunch on the Lido. I suspect with the sale of FTTF that there will be more people arriving early, and that tells me it might not be as easy as it used to be to board early without it, so we're trying it for that and for the other perqs. Not a bad deal AFAIC. And still not a bad deal if it goes up $10.

The one thing that people keep posting that makes me shake my head is saying it costs Carnival nothing.

I seriously doubt that!!

Sorting luggage and delivering it to specific cabins early...that takes staffing hours and that costs money.

Assigning staff to shuffle more people through priority lines and assist with priority perqs...those hours cost money.

it amazes me that people feel unsafe leaving a bag at a table on lido to go get more food, but will let their luggage sit in the hall for hours while it is being delivered. Do people go to their cabins and wait for the thud of luggage arrive at their cabin all afternoon?

Next cruise I may set up shop poolside on lido with a 'bag watcher' sign...$3 a bag. I'll watch your bag while you explore the ship or eat with all the bag stealers that are also eating. It may get warm in the sun, but I promise it will be there when it returns.

May be a good way to get some extra casino cash.

I won't knock anyone for buying FTTF or any other on board spending that makes sense for them. It just does not make sense for me. I have never had a problem being on board at noon or earlier, never needed priority tendering, carry just one very small bag with me at boarding so there is no need to go right to my room, and never need to have early disembarkation. I can count on two fingers the number of visits I have made to the customer service desk.

But if these things have value to others, go for it! Pretty sure there are things I spend money on that others would think is a waste. Love specialty dining, chef's table, and occasionally will splurge for a more expensive stateroom (but not always).
