In Mitsugirly's current Pride review on this board, she makes reference to that very thing happening. She says the porters told her to just check it and gave her a tag for her sodas.

I do not understand all the hype about this thing either. Value is in the eyes of the beholder. Like other platinums in this thread, I've gotten it for people sailing with me to enhance their experience. I am neither stupid nor an evil wasteful consumer, I don't think. To each their own. I'd LOVE to know how many people posting about the waste of money are driving luxury cars, sporting designer clothes and giving several hundred for purses and Beats by Dr. Dre for the kiddies. To each their own. That is all.

A tag for the bag containing the soda, not for the case of soda. There is a difference.

Sorry you misunderstood. I have seen some truly rude cruisers in the VIP room towards the check in agents. That, however, is not the norm by any means. Over all, everyone is in a great mood so when I see this, it really sticks out. That was my only point.

Well, it sorta sounded like you thought we were all mean stuck up people in your original post. I felt the need to defend my honor. :D

For something that costs CCL nothing, a price increase is nothing more than an additional price grab.

All while reports continue to come in that they exceed the amount sold, as well as merging these passengers with those that actually earned it.

It's what the market will bear.

You just proved what I was talking. That's the very attitude that assumes to know what level I am.

It is hard not to respond to the type of attitude about VIPs that you made in your original statement. Most of us are not like that, and my post does not prove anything about my attitude. But yours says a lot about yours. People who live in stone houses shouldn't throw glass. Look forward to watching you try to back pedal.

Interesting, I guess we have just been lucky 23 times as no one ever said it was an issue, hell we have seen people just put a tag on case of water or soda in no luggage w/o an issue, oh well too each their own

Not when you are violating rules. If you are unsure, read the cruise contract.

Actually..they now have a new fast pass that you can pay for ahead of time and pick the rides you want to go on and when before you leave your house. I believe they also still have the free fast pass..but it is not accessible until you arrive at the park.

I have used the new fastpass and it is free. If you want a fancy wristband you have to pay extra for that (even though I received mine in the mail free as well) but one can use their entry card as their fastpass instead of a band. Yes, I can sit at home and pick my whopping 3 rides a day using the new system (which ticks me off as you used to be able to get as many fastpasses as you could handle) but the new system is still FREE.

Exactly.

But I have realized that in the part of the country in which I live salaries are lower than in other parts.

So, for some people $60 is less money than it is for me.

If I had $60 to throw out the window it would go to St Jude or to rescue animals from the high kill shelters here.

Perhaps the income from selling nothing helps keep the price of cruises lower.

Who knows?

It's not throwing $60 out the window if it makes someone's life a little easier.

Interesting. I have friends who go every year and pay for the new fast pass...but I guess maybe it is just for the wristbands? Not sure why anyone would pay for the wristbands..lol. My mistake.

And what I find funny is how many people claim that it's not worth it, they get on the ship early anyway, cabins are ready anyway, blablabla....

But the FTTF is sold out for EVERY cruise...

This is a great way for Carnival to earn extra money and many many many guests love it.

You don't? Just don't get it - it will sell out anyway.

100% agree. Everyone can spend their hard earned $ how they see fit. Some may think paying for FTTF is a waste, while others think spending $ on alcohol or the casino a waste. To each their own!

Sorry if it sounded like I was. More power to those who find value in FTTF. I just don't find it personally. Pretty much everything that FTTF offers I can get by learning to work around peak times to board the ship, tender ashore, etc. But you're right. Everybody gets to spend their money the way they want to. Some find value on suites, some find value on insides, some find value on the MDR and some find value at the Steakhouse. Who am I to say what's right?

I apologize if you think my remark was directly specifically to you (so many people here are ragging on those who do find value in FTTF and I just happened to quote your post). You just stated you didn't see the value and being that you're Platinum maybe that's why. But for one cruise, someone else can have the luxury of "being Platinum" for $60. Not a bad deal depending on the cruise. If people want to spend their money on a suite or a balcony, I'm happy for them that they have the ability to do so. If someone wants to feel like a Platinum for a cruise, I'm also happy for them because it make make their life easier and that might encourage them to stick with Carnival to become a real Platinum one day. Either way, it's nice to have options.

No different than paying for many trinkets while on vacation. that and Disney pushes the wristbands with all the little addons. :) But the actual fastpass itself is free though not as good as the old system (IMO).

Agreed...when we went we loved the system..where you can get fastpasses at certain times but then have to wait to get more. Never went when the all you can get system was available.

Agreed..it shocks me how many people speak out against it. Everyone pays extra for something that is worth it to them. Clearly...if people want to spend $50 for fttf..it is worth it to them. Doesn't mean they are silly or wasting their money.

It shocks me how many people pay for something you can get for free by showing up an hour later.

I will continue to buy FTTF each cruise as long as I feel the benefit outweighs the cost. And I give less then a rats booty who doesn't like it. For me the benefit is there.

I am able to get to my cabin as soon as I board and since I do get to the port rather early, I like getting on early and getting to my cabin and once my luggage arrives I unpack. I do have carry on's and sometimes I bring water - the bottled kind - I do not like nor do I drink tap water. The last cruise I brought on ginger ale and water. I do not drink soda by nature, so the Bubbles program someone mentioned that would be "cheaper" would not be for me. And considering the soda program is $25 pp and a case of Ginger Ale is $6 I think I come out much cheaper bringing it on. Not sure where that person buys their soda but if you are paying $25 for a weeks worth of soda....you might want to find another place to shop. If I drank $25 worth of soda in a week, I would have no kidney's left!

I also get to by pass the tender line and the guest services line. Who wants to stay up past midnight to avoid lines? If you do, more power to you. After the other cabins open, I go eat. That way I avoid fighting the frenzy and I can find a table rather easily and quickly. And the best part, I was able to get off the ship fast on Sunday to get my son to the airport for his early flight out of Hobby.

I have purchased it five times now and I have it for my cruise in September. I was not happy about the price increase. But I still feel its a good value and a good benefit for the cost. I am about 24 days away from being Platinum, so I still have a ways to go before I no longer would want to purchase FTTF.

We always purchased it also, but last year, no one was able to go to their cabin until about 1:45. Everyone was a little upset, but hey, we were on the ship. This year we will not be purchasing.

I liked it and can understand why people purchase. This year we are seeing how it goes without.
