Pre-Cruise Hotels...Where Are You Staying?

We are planning a ceremony in port on embarkation day out of Ft. Lauderdale. I've read where the good hotels in this area are the Hyatt Pier 66 and the Marina Marriott...unfortunately I don't think our guests would enjoy paying to fly down to FLL and then pay $200-$300 for a 1 night stay :D . On the other hand, it is our pre-wedding day and I don't want people to stay at the Motel 6!;)

Any recommendations as to what hotel in this area is good? I am most concerned with:

1) Cost - we would like something within the $100-$150 range/night

2) Location - something close to the pier and not in a seedy area

Please share your experience in your pre-cruise hotel! Thanx!

Close to the pier and not in a "seedy area" would be SE 17th Street...

Renaissance... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR

Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES

Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLFL

Hyatt Pier 66 (across the Intracoastal from the restaurants & shops of SE 17th Street)... http://pier66.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml

The "budget" hotels in the area are...

Holiday Inn Express... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc

Extended Stay America... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html

I stayed at the Holiday Inn - Ft Lauderdale Beach on my last cruise because I wanted something right on the beach. Its a nice place for a budget hotel.

Most hotels near the port are a few blocks from the beach at best. This one is just steps away, and every room has a view of the ocean.

Its not as close to the pier as the other places, but having the beautiful beach right across the street was worth it! :)

For our wedding in July we stayed at the Amerisuites. It was a great hotel for the price and location. If you needed any last minute things Publix was a block away. Also, we used the free shuttle they offer from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the cruise port. It went smoothly and we were at the ship in no time the next morning. Good luck!!
