Travel time by car from Sydney to katoomba in th Blue Mountains is 1 hr 45 minutes, by train around 2 hrs.

Biggest headache is getting out of and back into the City - traffic is yuk.

 

More flexibility if you have a hire car allowing you to see much more that the mountsins has to offer such as Blackheath with its Govetts Leap lookout and walking trail.

 

Drive time from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves is 1 hr 20. Be aware that the road is one way only down the hill into the caves between 11am and -1pm to allow the tourist coaches to get there safely.

A lot depends on the time you have.

 

Train to Mountains in morning, do cable care and 3 sisters.

 

O/N then hire a car, visit the caves.

 

Return the car and back to City next day.
