Breakaway Check -in

Hello Everyone...

 

So it's been a couple years since I've cruised. I just started the checkin for my cruise coming up in July and it wants me to select a time I will be arriving. I've heard other people saying it was a new thing etc. I guess my question is, last time I checked in I was able to go right in because I'm a Gold member. Do they still have separate checkin for gold/platinum members or do I need to go by this time?

I chose 930 check in and got there closer to 1030. When you get there there is nothing set in place so I do not know why they have this option. But I would get there no later than 11 otherwise the line runs all the way down to the next pier.

 

The priority check-in starts with people who booked the Haven, then wedding parties, next casino at sea and finally everyone else.

 

The everyone else pile boards according to a random number they give you. You can get there at 8 AM and be given ticket #25 or you can get there right before boarding and be given ticket #5. Guess who is going first?? lol

Hi, I am going this weekend on the Breakaway!! Yay!! Been many years since last cruise.

 

I completed my online registration a while ago, and on these boards saw that people mentioned that NCL recently added this option to your online registration. I went online and sure enough it was showing my registration wasn't complete and had to add my arrival time. However, it wouldn't work. I selected 10:30 arrival , but it wouldn't let me select anything for the other 3 members of my family. Even though the early slots were all zero, I couldn't select anything for the rest of my family - not even the after noon times. So I called NCL and she told me that this was something new they are just trying, and said it wasn't working properly. She basically told me to get there when I wanted to, and I will be accommodated even if I arrive early at 9:30. I told her I could not select anything for the rest of my family and said not to worry about it.

 

I am planning to get to the pier by 9:30-10 and see what happens. :D

There is still a line for latitude members so you get to miss the long line waiting to check in. After that though you get a number just like everyone else. It doesn't take long to board though. We were there around 11 and didn't wait at all.

I've noticed at Breakaway security and check in much more focus is on Haven and CAS guests. We did get into the priority security line but only because I told them we are platinum. I think even the sign there said HAVEN only. After security they will ask you what deck you're on and send you to that line. I think last time the lines were so short I didn't even bother with telling them we're platinum and just went to the deck # line.

 

So check-in and security may be different for this cruise than you've experienced as gold in the past.

I just sailed on BA on 6/21. I only found out about having to select an arrival time from this board, so when I checked in on myncl, it assigned me 11:30. I was so annoyed! I arrived there at 9:30 anyway, because I had prearranged transportation. I was able to check in when they started the process and I got a number 23 card. We started boarding and I was on board by 12:15. The process was very organized. Good luck, have fun! Btw, it's very chilly in the terminal, bring a sweater!

I do not think that check in or arrival time has anything to do with anything. I picked a time and when I got there earlier than that time nothing was mentioned. There is nothing set up in the terminal stating arrival time. The number they give you isn't based on your arrival time.

 

As far as ticket numbers, one time I arrived at 9:30 and the terminal was still empty and I received a ticket number 21 then the following cruise when I arrived at the terminal at 11:30 I got ticket number 8.. This time around I had priority boarding and I got number 16, but I was amongst the first to board before they started called numbers.. The whole system is pretty organized about boarding but the randomness of the ticket number that you receive simply baffles me lol

We arrived at the terminal at 12:30. There was a bit of a line, but check-in was fast. It only took about 30 minutes from the time we set foot in the terminal until we boarded. Fastest check-in we ever experienced.
