Little Mrs Posted August 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Hi All - I am starting my cruise on Thomson Celebration in September in Dubrovnik. We should be on ship by 11am but do not sail until 11pm. Does anybody know if you can get off the ship to see Dubrovnik before it sails? Many thanks :)
Rare dronnygirl Posted August 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Once you've registered and got onboard, you can go ashore. I believe it's about 25 minutes walk into the town depending where you dock.

Pensioncruiser Posted August 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2015 It's been a couple of years since we have been to Croatia do you still have to carry your passport at all times when off the ship if so Little Mrs don't forget yours because you may not have been informed. Just three weeks now for us😀😀
Little Mrs Posted August 19, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Thanks for all the info guys. Has anyone been to Sibenik, Koper and Korcula? Finding it difficult to find any information about these ports.
Pensioncruiser Posted August 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Hi Little Mrs Koper is a lovely place the center is about 500mtrs from the dock up some steps or sloping road nearest beach is 100mtrs but its shingle and no sun beds but with some bars along the front. Best trip we did was to Ljubljana its a long way but well worth it IMO. Korcula only ever walk round this port/town we think a lovey place its a 'beetle shaped hump' with lots of passageways off a main central walkway which leads you to St Marks cathedral, Nearest beach again shingle 5min walk. Sibenik never been so will be interested to hear about this. When are you going?:) .

jenny wren Posted August 19, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Sibenik is also a lovely place! Nice walk along prom from ship brings you to the old town with its cathedral......we climbed up many steps to the Monastery garden...then down again to wander lovely shops and restaurants....the sail out is worth being on deck for....we loved the place. There is a trip here to Krka waterfalls which we have done in the past and is well worth doing if you are able to walk quite a way :)
Deep Thinking Fish Posted August 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Hi Little Mrs - notwithstanding the on board drill you'll have time to get into Dubrovnik. Chances are you'll dock around 4.5k from the Old Town. You can catch a 1A or 1B bus but even easier is a taxi - 13 Euros or 95 Kuna from alongside the ship. The taxis accept either currency. You need to be a good passenger to tolerate the manic driving but the flip side to this unnecessary state of panic is that you arrive at Pile Gate within minutes! One taxi rank to drop you off and plenty of taxis on the other side of the road to take you back - easy. Enjoy, it's a great place. As is Koper! csmjfmbe Posted August 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2015 We were on this cruise a month or so ago, once you have checked in, you can go ashore but you should be back in time for the muster drill, 6.30pm when we were on. All the places you are going to are gorgeous and the people are lovely. Have a great time. Mike and Janice
