Keuka Lake Sailor Posted August 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2015 At my dinner table on the QM2 last November, I met a lovely lady, Lee Laurino, who writes a travel blog: http://www.maturesolotravel.com. When I mentioned my mom came over on the Queen Mary as a war bride in 1946, Lee became very interested in the subject and we went down to Maritime Quest and viewed the war bride panel there. Lee wanted as many details as I could provide of my mom's story and also did research on her own and it resulted in beautiful article on her blog: "War Brides: The Queen Mary Transports WW ll Brides." The article was dated 7/5/2015 and you can easily find it on her blog by scrolling back a few pages...........I think many of you will also find her other articles extremely interesting and informative and articles are always loaded with lots of pictures. I so admire her as she does all this traveling alone and is now planning this Fall's trip................Another example of the marvelous people you can met on Cunard ships.................... Keuka Lake Sailor Posted August 22, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted August 22, 2015 I should have mentioned that Lee has put the war bride story on the front page of her blog, under "Popular Posts" with the same title, so really easy to access the article , and yes that is my smiling face! SPacificbound Posted August 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Thank you for sharing your mother's story, and the blog containing the story. I found it very interesting. My mother came to the US in 1923, at the age of 9, so I do really enjoy stories such as your mother's.
