Ultimate Beverage Package question?

Q: If I buy the premium package and want a $12 cocktail, will i pay $2 or be charged the full amount?

A:

Guests will only have to pay the $2 difference. the premium and ultimate packages offer a $10 credit towards ultra-premium cocktails.

So, this doesn't make sense? If I buy the Ultimate Beverage Package, then I'll STILL have to pay the difference for any cocktail costing over $10?

Is this really true?

The premium package covers beverages up to $12.

The two packages cover the same alcohol. The Ultimate package includes specialty coffee, fresh squeezed juice in the windjammer and sparkling bottled water.

But IF you find a drink that is over the $12 limit - you only pay the difference - with BOTH packages.

When we had the premium on our last cruise - there wasn't a single drink we could find that wasn't included in our package. From frozen drinks to martinis, to mojitos to manhattans. Only a handful of items (REALLY expensive liquors) are above the premium or ultimate package limits.

That's weird, so their website is wrong? You're sure it's a $12 limit and not $10 as listed? :)

Q: What wines are included in the all-inclusive beverage packages?

A: All wines by the glass up to an $8 value* are included in the select package. All wines by the glass up to a $12 value* are included in the premium and ultimate packages. guests also receive 20% off bottles of wine with the select, premium and ultimate package.

The drink prices went up in early 2015 and the drink packages were changed accordingly. They might not have updated the website. But - when you go to your cruise planner - the updated information is there.

I'm not a wine drinker - but I believe that is still correct.

debating on this.... so two questions is the premium coffee only available at the coffee shop in the promenade? Also if my Hubby is a non drinker do we both have to have the same package? He wants to do the replenish package since he drinks a lot of soda and water but never alcohol or coffee. I think Carnival says everyone in the same room has to have the same package just curious.

I am pretty sure RCI are fine with different packages.

Drinks prices are different compared to where you sail. We just did a sailing out of Barcelona & the drinks were SOOOOOO expensive, (like $16 a cocktail). Then we went out from Venice and the prices dropped.

The drink prices are even cheaper in the Australian sailings. We never had to pay anything extra on top of our beverage packages.

Royal Caribbean doesn't require that everyone in the same room have the same package. (They used to - but stopped a year or so ago.) So - you and your Hubby can have different packages.

I believe this is because of the spanish tax which applies to ex Spain cruises, for the whole of the cruise unless the ship docks at a non EU port.

Seriously ! I have bought the ultimate package for my cruise in October on Allure leaving from Barcelona. How many drinks are now priced over the $12 limit ? I won't be happy if after buying the ultimate drinks package it's going to cost me more money each time I get a drink ?

I am just off the Allure today, everything is still listed without VAT and gratuity therefore the drinks are still their normal prices, you pay the Spanish VAT of 10% on the actual daily package price meaning most should still be included.

Hi cuddlier, thanks, so are all cocktails etc included within the ultimate drinks package,it's just there's a post here about $16 cocktails etc..

I only had the Soda package personally so I can't confirm 100% for you but all of the menus had drinks for the most part up to $12, $12 + 28% (10% VAT + 18% gratuity) would add up to $15.36 so I assume that is what the other poster was referencing. Menus were definitely without VAT and gratuity, I know that for sure.

I can tell you from experience when the bar staff see "UP" stickers, they pretty much give you anything you want. But the difference is that things like the specialty coffees, Red Bull (in the can as opposed to a mixer), fresh squeezed OJ are included. Also if you eat at Chops and want one of the special coffee drinks with a kick after dinner, they are included on UP and not on PP.

I second this...just got off of Freedom this morning, and tried virtually every cocktail on the menu and there wasn't anything that wasn't covered by my premium package [emoji3]

Just to add that after our MDR meals, we had regular (included) coffee at the table and ordered liqueurs from the bar service waiter (included on our premium package) and made our own coffees with a kick!

With regard to a point raised by another poster about the $10/$12 threshold for cocktails, at the desk where we signed up it said cocktails included up to $10 however the flyers and laminated posters on display all said $12 so I figured we would take our chances, but in the end every single drink was covered without issue for us.
