Current Bookings on Board

Here's a link to the flyer that was posted recently. I tried to find the post but couldn't. Maybe it was removed.

Thanks, Mary Lou -

The part that gets me is this:

• Up to $500 Instant Onboard Credit

My whole point is....I don't want INSTANT OBC. Some seem to be able to put it towards the cruise they are booking, others not. Just not consistent at all.

What about the person who books the day before they get off the ship? When/where are they going to spend that instant OBC? I guess they should immediately run to the casino and take it out in cash, and pay the 5% fee. Either that, or they will lose it.

CHEZMARYLOU - Thank you for posting the link to the flyer. What Isabella posted was incorrect about the 7 Night in a Suite and the $500 OBC. I didn't think that sounded correct. ;)

So, if we book a cruise onboard for a 10-14 day cruise in an AQ, we should receive $200 in OBC. That's down from the amount we normally received. We have the same number of days booked in an AQ coming up in Europe and are receiving $300 OBC, plus all 3 benefits with the 123AllIN!

If it makes you feel any better we added the "Spring" promotion when we got home, which lowered our fare but we lost the extra $50 in OBC that we got on board.

(We have 3 future cruises booked and on some the fare savings were exactly that same $50 so it was a wash but after all the work the TA had to do to get Celebrity to add it I just left it alone.)

I can't remember what the promo was, but it all worked out to our satisfaction. :) I do remember that we received a price reduction and more OBC than what we were getting from the onboard booking. The cruise is for next May in the British Isles.

Thanks, Mary Lou -

Good point!

I don't know how the credit will work out once on board, credit for current cruise vs. credit for booked cruise, but I'll find out in a few weeks on Summit. We always book with a Celebrity CVP and I did ask her about this and to her knowledge you can still pick the cruise you want the credit applied to.

When they 1st started this type of credit, if you picked the current cruise it was a refundable credit so anything not spent was returned back to your credit card. Of course, if you cancel the future cruise you do not get the "deposit" back since you already either spent or received it back.

The onboard credit amounts are the same as they were with the 2014 on board booking offer. The 2014 offer did state that it was combinable with one other offer, with some exceptions. The new offer does not have this statement.

Good point!

Our discrepancy was that during the cruise I received an email from Celebrity saying I would get the (old) normal $300 OBC from booking a 14 day cruise in Aqua for winter 2016. Somewhere during our cruise they changed the offer to $250 for that future cruise. I brought my laptop to the rep and showed him the date of my email and so he was able to reference it and give me the $300.

But, as I said, when we got the fare reduction from the Spring promo they instituted the new OBC credit of $250 instead (I still really don't understand how they could change what we already had since we didn't change cabins or cruises but, as I said, I just gave up and didn't want to fight over $50)

We did have all the 1,2, 3 offers and the cruise fare is very similar to what we paid in 2015 with just the drink package so it's still pretty generous.

I think the original question on this thread was "Did you still get a cash OBC when booking a future cruise on board with this new Big, Better, Best program " and the answer seems to be yes.
