Santorini - Bus vs taxi from Fira to Oia

We are considering our options for our day in Santorini. The KTEL Bus vs Taxi?

Although the bus appears pretty user friendly how far is the bus station from the cable car in Fira as well as the bus stop in Oia to the main tourist drag?

Would it be better to use a taxi/Cost?

Thank you.

The bus is about 4-5 blocks from the exit of the cable car. The Oia stop, which is also a taxi stand, is just a short walk from all the scenery in Oia.

I believe the taxi ride may have gone up a couple euros from the 20 euros (each way) it was when we were there a couple of years ago.

We bussed to Oia, and taxied back when we were there. We did it that way, as when we arrived at the bus stop, the bus wasn't due for 10 or 15 minutes, but there was an available taxi. For 4, the cost was very reasonable. What is "best" for you depends on your definition of "best", which we don't know.

If you do some reading on this board, you will see there is also the option of ferry boat from below the cable car in Fira, to Oia, then bus back, with all the transport included in the one fare.

We just returned from Santorini.

A taxi ride was about 20-25 minutes and cost $20 one way (per car - we had 3 people)

We made the return trip on the bus as it comes every 20 minutes and costs 1.80 Euros. Big difference in price, but the bus was really, really crowded. Not good if you are at all claustrophobic. The bus ride with all stops took about 40 minutes.

I was going to say the same thing- but we managed to get a good seat on the bus so it was not too bad. We considered the taxi, but not for that much. Buses are supposed to run every 10 min.

FWIW, we hiked from Feria to Oia- takes a good 2.5-3.5 hours- as it's 12km. But really spectacular. If one can get an early start- it's not hard to get that in, see some of Oia, take pictures of many of the blue domes, and get back in enough time.
