jennymaxgirl Posted October 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2015 I am about to purchase casino credits to redeem for cash once onboard. I wanted to purchase $1500 USD, but it seems as though $1000 is the max allowed. Is this correct or is there a way around this to buy more credits? Thanks
LeeW Posted October 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2015 I used to buy these, but since the denomination offered was only $100 each it made a very large stack of forms in the room when we got there. Most I ever bought was $2500 and did it just by calling 1800PRINCESS. As I recall she had to handle it as two purchases and it took a while, since each certificate was entered separately. If they now have some hard limit you can always call several times. Make sure you count the certificates when you get there. We were one short and it took a few days for them to track down the missing one. They knew it was there, just couldn't find the printout.
Steelers36 Posted October 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Your SO in the cabin could also buy credits separately and that increases the amount. I've never tried to buy that much (I think $600 or $800 was my max).
Crzn-Life Posted October 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Today I ordered $1000 each in casino credits for both DH and me. Took about 5 minutes. The emailed receipt was for 10 $100 credits for pax 01 and 10 for pax 02. No problem with amount and it was quick and easy. The rep was pleasant and efficient. Thanks If you are ordering it online thru the Cruise Personalizer they limit to $1000 PER transaction. You can do multiple transactions to get up the the amount that you want. I am sure that there must be some limit, but I know that you can do $1000, $1000, and $500 for sure. Happy Cruising! Mark
dcrow72 Posted October 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2015 May I ask what the benefit is of purchasing ahead?
rinkrat10 Posted October 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2015 If you are Canadian the exchange rate is much better if you purchase casino credits pre-cruise. You will have vouchers waiting for you in your cabin that you redeem in the casino for cash .
ALB0711 Posted October 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2015 I may be mixing up my cruise lines, but I believe the casino on the ship charges a 2% (maybe more) advance fee if you ask for money at the cage or tables. Buying the vouchers avoids that fee and eliminates the need to travel with a stack of cash.

Buying the vouchers avoids that fee and eliminates the need to travel with a stack of cash. For us the big reason was not carrying $2500 in cash around before the cruise. The problem then becomes handling the $100 certificates and making sure you got all of them. Wish you could get these in $500 increments. Makes a lot of sense for non-US folks to work the better exchange rate, though.
