Emerald Princess 10/24 -11/02

This was my 20th cruise. I don't usually comment but I felt the Emerald has been getting a bad rap lately. I did not have any the issues that were reported in the most recent posts. Crown Grill could not have been better. The service was good the food was very good. I also ate at the Crab Pot. it was OK. the food on the buffet was hot and tasty. The crew had a good attitude . The ship was clean and I had no problem with my staterooms or stews . This cruise was over Halloween and was a lot of fun. I will be sailing on the Emerald again in January after the dry ? wet ? dock. I will get back with an update although I do hate to write. The casino was VERY Tight. I have 0 complaints. I was not sure I made the right decision by booking the Emerald after some of the recent reviews it was a good cruise. I have no prior expectations and go with the flow.

Agreed! We were on Emerlad for the Halloween cruise and had a blast! We also found the ship to be clean and the crew were outstanding! We also did the Crab Shack, Sabatinis and the Crown Grill ( twice) and found everything to be spot on. Crooners was our bar of choice bartenders Bo and K were top shelf. Sure there might have been a dirty window here and there but I don't quite get what everyone is moaning about. Emerald was a great ship and we'd book it again in a heartbeat! Just my two cents. :D

I was also on this cruise and had a great time. I only encountered perhaps two staff members who were not up to par. Most were very friendly and helpful. I think the ship is definitely due for some new carpet, etc. I will be sailing on her again in February, and I'm looking forward to seeing what has been spruced up.

We had Dorde on our 2nd night and he was on the money! I'd definitely recommend him if you can get him. The first night we were watching him do his thing and he was defiantly more on the ball and attentive than just about any of the other servers. Enjoy your cruise!

You're 100% right. We've been on some not so great ships but always had a great time! As you said it's what you make of it. :cool:

I sailed on Emerald earlier this year while she was in Houston and felt it was a beautiful ship. Aside from the delayed departure due to fog (yet still made every port), I had no issues with the ship or any of the Staff. I can't wait to sail Emerald again!

I'm drooling. Random question-- did you find he Crown Grill busy? We have always had FLAWLESS experiences. But on our last (short) cruise it was packed and we had service issues.

Andrew yes it was busy both times at 8 pm. Some 6 and 8 tops kept the servers busy. Each time we waited 5-10 mins to be seated but we requested a window booth and there aren't many of those so we weren't bothered. The first room off the promenade corridor by the photo gallery was less full but we don't want to sit there.

 

In the video you'll hear me say we got our appetizers after 40 minutes-so they were backed up. The big tables took up 3 servers at a time, mainly taking lobsters out of the shells.

 

There were trays of used plates left sitting for up to 10 minutes.

 

Leave 2 hours open for the meal, just in case.
