mlbcruiser Posted November 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2015 A relative will be on a ship in Dec. that will be making a stop at Costa Maya/Mayahual. He is hoping to visit some Mayan Ruins from that port and has been told there are 3 different locations he could visit from there. Although I have visited this port a couple of times, it's been several years ago and I didn't visit any ruins from there. So I couldn't help him with any info. as to which one would be the most interesting, the closest, farthest or options to get there. I'd appreciate input from anyone out there who has knowledge of such ruins and especially from anyone who has actually visited any of them. I imagine his ship will offer excursions to these places however I think he'd also likely be open to any independent tours or drivers that come well recommended. Any info. anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2015 Have him google The Native Choice. They run really good tours to close Maya ruins. Small groups. Better organized that ship excursions. More cultural immersion. Very aware for ships having shorter than usual stays in port. You can also look for threads on this board. Slopoke15 Posted November 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2015 We toured with native Choice, excellent tour of the ruins. I agree 100% that Native Choice should be considered for a private tour of the Mayan ruins near Costa Maya. I did the Chacchoben mayan ruins tour on November 19th with this company. It was very well done, and worth the money I spent on it. I have posted a more detailed review on Trip Advisor if anyone is interested
