Shore Excursion Credit Question

We are booked on the Escape in May and recently upgraded to a balcony room with the UBP. Our final payment is in 2 weeks and I noticed the new pick 2 promo. We are traveling with our teenagers and are thinking of adding the shore excursion credit since we are before final payment.

The question I have is do we need to use the credit for a shore excursion or do they simply provide a non-refundable OBC to our account? The reason I am asking is we weren't planning on doing an excursion through NCL. We are just going to get a taxi or rent a car to get to a local beach on our stops. We are not interested in the internet or dining plan at all.

Thanks

It has to used toward an excursion booked through NCL.

If your trip hits St. Thomas the $50 will just about pay for 3 sky ride tickets. The sky ride is within walking distance to ship. Even if this is your only excursion it's worth the freebie. Our teenager really enjoyed this ride, so even if you just send them up and spend less then $50, no harm.

There's also a botanical garden in St. Thomas that's cheap. We didn't visit and it wasn't available through NCL, but it might be now. Your family might be able to do that close to $50.
