Specialty dining discount, where to ask for?

Hello all,

I saw many threads with folks talking about discount to specialty dining venue on the first night.

I am planning to do so, but not sure who to get the discount from? From attendant? Or MDR maitre'd?

Also is the discount always negotiable? Or I should take whatever they offer right away?

I also see a thread talking about cancel and rebook to get a deeper discount? Is this true?

Thanks in advanced!

There will be employees from the venues trying to get you to buy dinner packages. You get the discounts from them.

Is it always negotiable? No. But sometimes it is. The discount depends on the number of bookings.

Cancelling you package booked before your cruise and rebooking on board? Fine. The discount might be greater and might not..

You have no way to tell or predict the discount that will be offered.

FWIW - I have gotten the best discount offers in the restaurant after paying full price once and noticing they were not busy.

When you see them chasing you down, trolling the bars or your dining room MaitreD approaches YOU ( not you asking) with a discount offer that's when the deals gets good.

Some cruises best you can get is 20% last cruise they were offering 2 for 1- all depends on how busy they are.

On some cruises there are no discounts either. Just keep this in mind. On our recent Reflection cruise, we asked daily about a discount at the Lawn Club. Not happening. They were sold out every day. Finally booked second to last night at full price and could only get a table at 8:30.

They did offer us 30% of Qsine but we weren't interested. No offers were being given at the other restaurants either.

We met lots of people who seemed to have huge OBC and were happily spending it all at the restaurants.

Any discounts will be supply and demand based.

When we were on the Infinity last year they had tables set up near the doorway to the pool. We got decent discounts twice for specialty dining. Negotiating with a fun attitude worked for us. They didn't look down on it at all, matter of fact, they had a good time with it.

These offers are available throughout the voyage, on occasion, not just on the first night.

Over the years we have been offered 20%, 30%, 40% off and even two for one. It all depends on who has booked and paid full price.

There may be no discounts on your cruise.

I am hosting a birthday party on Summit shortly, and I will get pally with the Maître 'd of the Tuscan Grille and see what night, if any, might be discounted. The Maître d's are your best bet, as they do have discretion. The waiters just sell what they are told to.

I may have to pay full price, we'll see!
