It didn't sit well with me at the time either. It's a difficult situation- I was just trying to inform folks the announcement wasn't as flip as the original poster made it sound.

I think we're on the same page about how it was handled.

By the way, this may be off topic, shortstop95, but...... what's the significance of the blue (2006 and earlier) vs. red (2007 and later) sailings in your signature, if you don't mind my asking? Apologies for being nosy!

Anyone get a peak at the new Captains Suites? They want a pretty penny for them so it will be interesting to know what makes the price so spectacular.

Yes pretty penny alright they "offered" me the upgrade from my balcony cabin for $2000 (four of us)...considering the purchase price was around $8000 that would have bean a deal had I accepted.

We were on this cruise as well but we did not have the same experience. We were on the 9th floor and had new mattresses and bedding, new bathroom floor, new carpet in public area, gift shop, casino, new wood in men's sauna. We thought the ship was very clean and in good shape. Had a wonderful time!

We were on this sailing as well. We had a balcony on deck 9. Worst room steward in our 14 cruises. Our room was also very dusty, and our toilet smelled like an outhouse all week when lid was open. Missing Costa Maya was a let down as well.

Did you also have only once a day room steward service? Thanks. I am hearing mostly people had once a day service, but that you can actually have it twice, so just wondering if this is just a ship thing. Sorry things were not so great on your cruise. Hope you had fun anyway.

Yes, our steward presented the card and said pick which service we wanted. We selected both the morning and evening boxes as there was not a "both" box. We also checked the box for extra towels. This turned out to be a joke for us all week, as he would never leave more than 2 clean towels in the room at one time. He also would never change the glasses, dirty or not, and the second half of the week we only had 1. We didn't feel like waiting around for him to bring towels or glasses so lived with the issues all week.

I emailed Carnival cares yesterday and they responded today that "cabin service most definitely can still be requested twice daily on every single one of their ships" and that anyone who has been told otherwise is encouraged to contact Guest Services if still on the cruise or Carnival cares (with name of steward) after a cruise....Eeks wouldn't want them to have to walk the plank over room service. However, it can be a little annoying if someone is trying to get out of what is expected of them.
