Rare CruisinCrow Posted April 19, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 19, 2016 OMELETTE TIP - go to the aft pool area for your omelette. We found that there was either no lineup at all or a very few people in line - however no juice and coffee station back there so bring you beverage with you. There actually is a coffee station in the aft pool area. It's next to the ice cream. But for some reason, the coffee there tasted terrible. I noticed that our own cruise two years ago and it seemed the same last month so I just got my coffee inside.
ShellLoves2cruise Posted April 19, 2016 #27 Share Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) We were on the same sailing with you on the Victory and also had a cabin (9255) on the Lido deck (so convenient)! I'm enjoying reading your review and reminiscing about the trip! I will try to put a little review together in the next couple days however I didn't take a lot of pictures :( The best part of this wonderful trip was that I finally got to do the Behind the Fun tour and it was awesome! I will include the tour in my review but I highly recommend it...it was well worth the $55 each we spent :) Edited April 19, 2016 by ShellLoves2cruise

I've stayed on the Lido deck before (on other ships) , but this was the closes to the mid deck action we've been. I was a little concerned that it would be too noisy but not at all. We did hear the odd voice and laughter at night, but it didn't bother me and we were awake anyways. On the first day we could hear music in the afternoon when we were out on the balcony - but that was it .

Kel040 Posted April 21, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted April 21, 2016 First evening Our plan for the first night was to go to the Dive In movie. We wanted to see Daddy’s Home (Will Farrell & Mark Walhberg) but figured we grab a couple of lounge chairs during Minions and then be all ready for our movie. It was a great plan BUT – it was very windy which made it cool out too. I did all the running around while DH saved the seats and watched Minions. I got us “dive in” blankets from the towel hut, I got us drinks – soda for DH from cabin and a hot tea for myself from the beverage station. I even got some popcorn from the bar, I didn’t care for it – DH snacked on it though. It was great having a cabin on the same deck and so close – I think I made 2-3 trips back and forth (glasses, bathroom, sweater) before we were settled. Minions ended about 9pm and the next movie wasn’t going to start till 10. After all that, we both decided it was just way to windy and cold to wait for the movie and gathered our stuff together to go to cabin. When I went to take back the blankets, the guy there told me I could hang on to the blankets for the next night if I wanted too – so that’s what we did. On the next night we were like old pro’s. Picked out the lounge chairs – DH went to cabin and grabbed the blankets, my glasses, his drink, I made my hot tea and we watched the last half of Jurassic World while we waited for the start of the new Stars Wars movie. DH had seen it already at the movie theatre but not being a big Star Wars fan I had not seen it yet.. As the 1st movie was getting closer to the end, the seats were beginning to fill up and settle in for Star Wars. By the start of the movie, there were only a few single lounge chairs empty. I enjoyed it, and it was a nice clear night and not windy. This was fun, I would definitely plan on doing that again. Jurassic World (big scary dinosaur chasing girl) Star Wars :)

Kel040 Posted April 21, 2016 Author #37 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Sea Day We were up early and had a very early breakfast then spent the morning exploring the ship and relaxing on deck. At about 12:30 we went to the Sea Day brunch to have some lunch. This is what I didn't like about going to the MDR for brunch – this cruise and my last cruise we asked to sit alone were told no. When we first entered the MDR we asked for one of those 4 person booths and the hostess asked our cabin # and then she told the gal which table to seat us at – thinking we were being escorted to the table requested, we followed. As she was showing us to the table, I’m noticing its not a small table and I was trying to explain that we would prefer…....blah blah blah.... - nope she wasn’t even listening to me and said sorry – this is where you have to sit. Last cruise same thing happened and we actually left because they said no – this time we stayed and just accepted it and sat down. I think what bothered me the most was – it wasn’t even busy also when we were leaving, I saw about 5 different couples in booths alone, just the 2 of them. We did stay at the table for 10 that she sat us at and the girls that were already at that table said something about that fact they didn’t like the menu and and got up and left – but no sooner did they leave, did the hostess come back with 3 more guests. They were actually a part of another group about 4 tables away buy were not seated with them.. The girls were lovely and we talked about cruises etc and everything was pleasant.. but we really just wanted to be on our own. Ok, that’s my rant – back to my cruise review.. :D
Kel040 Posted April 22, 2016 Author #38 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Day 2 (SeaDay) also the Elegant Night We had a good relaxing day – spent some time in the casino and also checked out the things in the shops. I enjoyed a coffee from the coffee bar and visited there daily. I decided to purchase the social package for the internet – it was $ 15.00 for the entire cruise. This vacation was more just a 4 night cruise 92 weeks)and I wanted to stay in touch with my kids, I have 3 grandbabies, 2 were just born this past year so this way we were all able to stay in touch. With this being our 7th cruise we have our routine for elegant night – I wear strappie sandals, a frilly blouse and black capris and bling it up with extra jewellery and DH wears a pair of beige khaki pants, a not so loud tropical shirt and he wore dress shoes (and socks). Waiting to enter the MDR – there was a range from evening gowns and suits to how we were dressed, nice but not super fancy. Some might think I was not dressed fancy enough, but I felt good about how I looked and I think that’s the most important and I don’t worry what everyone else thinks. Our table mates were all dressed about the same level of fancy as us and everyone looked GREAT. :D Right after dinner we went back to lido and got ready for the evening movie. Duty free liquor prices were pretty good.
Kel040 Posted April 22, 2016 Author #39 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Nassau (Day 3) We took our time and left the ship about 10:00 – there was no line up to get off the ship by then, we just went right off. Since this was just a short cruise and we have been to Nassau (and Freeport) before – we decided to not book any excursions and just walk around the shops near the port and pick up some souvenirs for the kids & grandkids. Then we went back onto the ship and relaxed at the Sirens Pool (aft).

Kel040 Posted April 24, 2016 Author #41 Share Posted April 24, 2016 While in Nassau – the Victory shared the far pier with the Ectasy – I do not know what time they were scheduled to leave but it was either the same time as us or just slightly earlier. DH likes to watch for pier runners and the Ectasy did not disappoint. We were told to be back on board by 4:30pm and would be setting sail at 5:00pm. At 4:00pm we watched from our balcony as the Ectasy crew were packing up the equipment set out on the pier, while passengers came running to board. By 4:30pm they had only one gangway left open – safety net gone, pylons put away and just an officer and pier worker obviously waiting for passengers not not checked in yet. There was a pier worker with a golf cart, assisting in getting the late passengers to the gangway, while the Ectasy waited. By this time (4:30) the Victory was starting to do their takedown of pier setup. Our passengers were pretty much on time (in Nassau, anyways – Freeport, no..) and Victory pulled in the final ramp and was ready to set sail by 5:00pm as scheduled. We did see the pier runner arrive for Ectasy but I suspect it was already decided between the 2 captains that the Victory would pull away first or we were just ready to go first so we did ? Little did we know, we would be turning around 1 ½ hours later. The captain made an announcement during dinner that there was a seriously ill guest that needed to be transported to a hospital and we would be turning around to return to Nassau. He said that this would not affect the arrival time to Freeport the next day. Here are some pictures of the Ectasy as we were leaving Nassau. Kel040 Posted April 24, 2016 Author #42 Share Posted April 24, 2016 FREEPORT (Day 4) After a relaxing morning, we went ashore to to walk around the pier shops. I bought some bags for my girls, and t-shirts for my boys and the grandkids. On the way back to the ship we saw that Senior Frogs was open and went in for a quick drink. Also, I forgot to mention, whenever we are in the Bahamas, DH always buys a bottle of dark Tortuga RUM - so he bought that when we were in Nassau. We were told that ship in the background is actually an old Carnival ship (Carnival Celebration) that was sold and it sails out of Freeport. . I did not buy this shirt, but I thought it was funny ! Freeport is actually my least favorite port..

KWH Posted April 25, 2016 #48 Share Posted April 25, 2016 The old Carnival Celebration has been renamed Grand Celebration and home ports in Palm Beach. She sails 2 night cruises with the option to stay in Freeport and catch the ship home on the next sailing. We live 5 minutes from the port so this works great for us!
