The Mommy Posted May 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Does anyone have any ideas what options there would be for spending the day after leaving the ship until a late flight at 9pm in the evening please? Thinking cases really. Would there be anywhere at the port perhaps to leave luggage or would we be better to find a hotel room? There are 16 of us. Many thanks

dkjretired Posted May 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2016 The usual options are a day room, rent a car or take an excursion from the cruise line, all will take care of your luggage.

Many thanks It is crucial for anyone answering your question to know the port where your cruise ends. We have had late flights out of Hong Kong and Dubai, where on both occasions we had a day rate at a hotel. Also, prior to checking in the Hong Kong hotel, we checked our luggage for our flight and carryons in a locker to do some site seeing. Other solutions are finding a tour guide to pick you up at port, take you on a tour and then drop at airport. We used Barcelona Day Tours for that in Barcelona. loeb Posted May 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2016 Not sure which airline you are on, but the Marina Bay Cruise terminal has a check in counter for many of the airlines. Once off the ship you should be able to check your bags and then go sightseeing. If your airline is not one of the ones that you can use at the Cruise Terminal than you will probably have to use one of the options mentioned earlier. There is one other option, you might take the subway system (MRT) to the airport, drop your bags off and then take the subway back to the main tourist area. You will have to transfer trains but it's not that hard and the MRT is very efficient. We had a few hours to spend before our flight, so we went sightseeing at the airport to terminals beside the main international terminal. There are many shop and places to eat. Rare chemmo Posted May 3, 2016 #10 Share Posted May 3, 2016 You could also see what excursions and airport drop offs X is offering. Singapore airport does have a payable lounge with drinks, food, showers....if you are not booked on a business flight. These tours usually drop you off 3/4pm although we have not done one from Singapore. We used this lounge a few years ago when we were dropped off at the airport at 2pm for a 9pm flight on a package tour...A couple of relaxing drinks, meal and shower and the time passed quickly. Please feed back what you find out/decide to do, we will be in the same position next October!

Did you just book one of the tours off the sight or did they privatise and customise it for you to include collection from port and airport drop off? Thanks. Canada17 Posted May 3, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 3, 2016 Yes I should have said - sorry - we will be in Singapore The Singapore Airport is a city in itself, lots to see and do. Not your typical North American cramped airport. Free movie theatre, butterfly sanctuary, lots of restaurants and store, flower gardens, koi fish ponds. Free transit between the 3 terminals. Our cruise ended in Singapore last year and we had an 11:30pm flight. We spent a whole day enjoying the airport. Food is fantastic, including an excellent Gelato bar at the lower level. Did you just book one of the tours off the sight or did they privatise and customise it for you to include collection from port and airport drop off? Thanks. We booked the tours through Viator (didn't know the name of the local firm until in Singapore). The tours were not customized. Most of the tours had between 6 and 25 people and were very well done. We liked the biking tour and the one of the whole island that focused on WWII very much. We also did a two day tour to Malaysia with this firm and it was great, since DW and self were the only people on the tour.
