dshinn Posted May 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2016 We will be on Carnival Legend, cruising Alaska the week of June 21. We have a reservation for the Chef's Table on one of the nights. I really don't know what to expect except that it is a multi course meal for a small group. Can anyone tell me where it will be, what food/drinks might be served and what to expect? Wheatie59 Posted May 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2016 You should have received a menu when you made your reservation. That's what you get. You don't choose some items. You get everything on the menu. Very small portions of each, but you will be stuffed. Red and white wine is included. They will keep your glass full. It starts in the galley. You have some appetizers and do a bit of touring. Then you go to a dining room. They serve the remaining courses. The Chef hung around and entertained for the whole mean on Splendor, except with the magician came in. Some of the food was a little weird for my taste, but its a great time. Guindalf Posted May 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2016 We got off the Valor yesterday and did the Chef's Table on Thursday. I'm NOT going to tell you what you will eat as it is the whole experience that counts. Some of the things, be description, don't sound good, but trust me, they taste amazing! When you are met, you will get a glass of champagne and then you will get a number of amuse bouche items following a tour of the kitchen. Everything will be explained before you eat it. Then it's on to a room where you will all be seated and a photo taken. After that, each course is presented and explained (a total of seven courses) and it is served with a red and a white wine and the choice of still or sparkling (San Pelegrino) water. We are visiting family and won't be home until later in the week, at which time I may post a full review with pics of all the food!
KoalaWala Posted May 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2016 I made a reservation too but did not get the menu by email. I thought you wont see it until the night of the dinner? There are threads on here somewhere where people will post the menus. I hear they don't change often so anyone from the past couple months will probably be the one you will get. tigercat Posted May 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2016 You don't get the menu when you make the reservation. You see it the night of the meal. However, there are menus posted. The menu might be changing soon which would be good. I have reserved it for our cruise in Oct. but will cancel if the new menu isn't out yet. tigercat
SadieN Posted May 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) The Spirit class ships have the Chef's Table on the floor of the disco, deck 1 aft. On the Miracle we met in the Atrium and were escorted down to the galley. **** The galley is on deck one, the MDR is decks two and three. The ATD staff have to go up two long escalators to bring food to their tables. Edited May 22, 2016 by SadieN

isaiahsnana Posted May 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2016 You will receive a letter in your cabin about the chef's table - it will have instructions of where to meet - usually at 6pm - for champagne and then begin the tour of the galley. With the letter, instructions for calling to confirm your reservation. At this time, you will be asked about food allergies so the chef may be aware and prepare a separate item for anyone who has allergies. Just think of the evening as an excursion - lots of wonderful stories and information. We have been visited by one of the sous chefs in the MDR prior to the evening to ask about allergies as well - just depends on who has time. I have been three times and have two more scheduled - it is a wonderful experience.

Planning to surprise DH on our 35th wedding anniversary cruise next week with this dinner - much better than swimming with the dolphins or anything of that nature for him - ha ha
