bubbles1209 Posted May 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Are there toll roads going into Fort Lauderdale to the port? Family coming into Lauderdale the day before the cruise and didn't think to tell them they may run into this:eek: If so, does anyone know how often you have to pay & about how much? They're driving in from Georgia, thanks
tattoos Posted May 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2016 The only toll road heading south to Fort Lauderdale is on the Florida Turnpike. If they stay on I95, no tolls.

NWACruiser Posted May 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2016 We travel to Florida a lot. With all the toll roads throughout the state, we have SunPass (https://www.sunpass.com/index) transponder for the car. I have the Mini Sticker ($4.99) that attaches to the windshield. You get a discount on the tolls with the transponder. You get to pass the toll booths at collection points instead of having to pay. There are also several places where you must have a SunPass to exit the toll road. It takes about 7 days by mail.

I have went both ways from Atlanta and cant say if one is better than the other.
OCruisers Posted May 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Depends on from where you're driving. From SC we are already on I-95 so staying on I-95 all the way works best for us. :)
Missywantstotravel Posted May 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2016 If they are worried about tolls, you can stop at the visitors center and buy a toll tag from one of the vending machines. Then when you call to activate it, you put money or a credit card on it. That way they have a prepaid tag.
