I am finalizing a cruise on the Empress of the Seas this summer. July 23rd works better date wise, however the with August 1 sailing, I can choose my own room for $950. On the 7/23 cruise, the guarantee is near $800, but for 7/23 to pick my room, it will cost $400 more :( Rather than stressing about it, I decided to reach out to CC.

I have never done a guarantee on any of the 10 cruises I've been on. I understand that all of Empress's cabins are small, and there is even a category called "Small OV stateroom!" I don't want to get stuck in one of these. I know location is a big deal, but I will just pray it is not over the casino. Has anyone had positive or negative experiences with guarantee staterooms on any cruise? I added a poll so you could easily vote if you did not want to type out a reply.

Thanks in advance, it means a ton. I'm so glad I will be returning to RCI this summer!

We just did a guaranteed ocean view on the June 11 cruise. It was our first time to try this. We ended up in 7600. Not a bad room. It did have a lifeboat right in front of our window. It didn't really bother us at all. Looking back, I'm glad I saved the money. Hope that helped!

The cabins on Empress are vewwy vewwy vewwy small. You probably won't spend much time in there.

If you want an OV cabin, you may as well do the guarantee.
