There are plenty of reviews for both companies on the thread "hiring a driver for the day" for you to read. I remember Cresencio subbing for ToursPlaza way back (assuming it is the same Cresencio) and now works independently.

I ended up going with Black Hat. But we won't be there until Jan, so it'll be a while before I have any experience.

You can't go wrong with Black Hat... Crescencio is a great guy, and an excellent tour guide. I went with him solo in Cozumel last year and had an awesome time, and learned a lot about Cozumel at the same time...
