Virgincruiser510 Posted July 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2016 Leaving for Carribean on Tuesday. Just wondering, what kinds of beverages are available in the MDR for breakfast and dinner and is there a charge for dinner beverages? I know you can buy wine by the bottle or glass, but what about other beverages;, soda, juice, or alcohol? Or even just soda? Do you have to be on the cheers pkg to get it free? erinmarie424 Posted July 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2016 Soda is not free anywhere anytime unless you have Cheers or Bottomless Bubbles. The MDR has several juices available at breakfast/brunch in addition to regular coffee and tea. I've never had anything other than water and wine at dinner so hopefully someone will come along soon to help with that.
chocolate melting cake Posted July 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2016 Iced tea and lemonade are free upon request. We usually ask for the tea the first evening and it's served the rest of the cruise.
Sixtytwo Posted July 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2016 I have ordered a Bloody Mary at brunch, so I know there is bar service available but, like already mentioned, it is not free! If the bars on deck or in the casino are open, I would expect you can order from the MDR.
Rock_Dr Posted July 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) The last time I was on Carnival they had iced tea and lemonade in the MDR for dinner. I have read that they have stopped the lemonade but cannot confirm that until I am back in 10 days. They also have hot coffee and milk. This is a sample menu from the Carmival weibsite. https://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/explore/dining/menus/dining-room-dinner-menu.pdf The iced tea was weak the last time. I brought "by the glass" water enhancers like Crystal Lite or MIO. Edited July 8, 2016 by Rock_Dr
leen50 Posted July 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2016 Rule of thumb: if it comes from the kitchen=free, from the bar=$$.
Virgincruiser510 Posted July 8, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted July 8, 2016 And I have one other question please. I thought I saw they had a wine package you could order but I can't find where I saw it to place the order. All I'm seeing now is Bubbles and Cheers. Did they do away with the wine package? isaiahsnana Posted July 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 8, 2016 You can purchase wine packages by the bottle once on board. There is a table set up for that purpose.

Search for Cruise the Vineyard to see what is available. We always purchase when we get on board, but there is a phone number you can call and order online. Should be part of the information in your search.

I found this information on the internet. Is it still true?: "On embarkation day Carnival offers free wine tasting in the gift shop and a great variety of packages, so the embarkation day offers better deals." And also,: 3 bottles of wine package cost - Basic ($77), Deluxe ($97), Premium $114. The Premium wine package is available only on 5- days sailings. 5 bottles of wine package cost - Basic ($131), Deluxe ($153), Premium $193. The Premium wine package is available only on 5+ days sailings.

I have read that they have stopped the lemonade but cannot confirm that until I am back in 10 days. It may have been a language barrier issue but our waiter had no clue what we were talking about when we asked for a pitcher of lemonade and iced tea. Later in the week, we saw them being delivered to a family that had young children. It may have just been our New England accent. The water was quite fine and the liquor shots they wandered around selling were fine as well.

ladygal4.4 Posted July 8, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 8, 2016 If you do request lemonade, another server may add water by accident for refills. The colors are pretty identical by the time it's gets watered down and frosted over Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
brepri_h Posted July 8, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 8, 2016 The only free or included drinks are those you can get on the lido deck. There are a couple juices up there, lemonade, iced tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Everywhere else on the ship you will pay for something else to drink.
