bb24 Posted August 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2016 We are two weeks away from our cruise on the Liberty of the Seas. We will be taking our 8 month old son and our 5 year old daughter. It just occurred to me that we should be prepared for seasickness for our little one, just in case. No of us have ever had a problem, though we take Dramamine with us for good measure. ;) Obviously that wouldn't work with a baby! Does anyone have experience with this? What remedies do you suggest for an infant? Thanks!
Kerry's Girls Posted August 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2016 Ask your pediatrician, but considering we rock babies, put them in swings that go back and forth and sideways, etc., my understanding is they don't have the issue with movement. melski Posted August 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2016 It's been said that babies don't have the inner ear fully developed yet so tend not to get sea sick. That being said, I'd want to have something just in case. Once again ask your doctor, however I've seen suggestions for benadryl and liquid ginger. You may need to ask your doctor for the proper dose of it based on their weight.
cb at sea Posted August 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2016 I don't think you'll have a problem with the baby...they enjoy rocking motions!!!
CruisinQueen2013 Posted August 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2016 We've taken our daughter on 2 cruises (15 months and again at 2.5) and she never once had a problem (going again next month at 4). Before going the first time, I asked our pediatrician and he chuckled. He said babies don't get seasick and it's very rare in kids. There are some OTC things like sea bands, etc. but I wouldn't worry about it.
sharktums Posted August 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2016 My daughter has been doing cruises since six months old and never had a problem until she turned seven years old. At that point she started getting nauseous in moderate seas. I also got nauseous as a child in cars/planes/boats so I was prepared with Children's Dramamine and that worked great for her.
