Cruises from S. FL to Western Caribbean in case of hurricanes

I understand that Eastern itineraries may change to Western in hurricane situation.

 

However, what would possibilities be for Western itinerary cruises from S. FL?

Any possibility of going to Bermuda or northward?

I think that's unlikely. I've not seen it. Usually they will avoid the hurricane anyway they need to. They might change to a limited Eastern Caribbean going where they can. But I've never seen a cruise switch to Bermuda. Likely dock space would be limited, etc. Usually ports get cancelled. But you never know.

Once they head to Bermuda, they don't have many choices for other ports.

I would think Bermuda would be unlikely as well and when you figure it is a 1000 miles or so from south Florida, there are closer in options. When a tropical system threatens a western itinerary, one solution is to run the itinerary in reverse before they opt for the eastern itinerary. They could also call on places in the Dominican Republic or the Turks and Caicos.

Is it not more likely the Western itinerary would be Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaica depended on the cruise length.

On your sailing too. We don't really care where we go just so we we board the ship and sail. But I must admit we would have no issue heading North...but from the replies it doesn't sound like that would happen. I know I read many years ago about ships being re-routed to Martha's Vineyard...but the Oasis is probably way too big for that!?
