Sanctuary on Coral Princess

I really liked the Sanctuary on the Coral Princess. It is two levels. It has seats in and out of the direct sun. It does have a very small private pool, but I was not crazy about it, as it felt a little like swimming in a tin can.

The cost is $20 for a half day; $40 for a full day; or $30 a day if you book the whole cruise.

I really like the Sanctuary on the Coral. I need shade and sometimes there wasn't much but then I used the pool for a while. I'm planning to do the Sanctuary on the Coral again next April. The pool is small but it gets you wet to help you cool down.

Hi!

This post caught my eye as we're sailing on the Coral in January. What is the Sanctuary? Is it something akin to the Carnival Serenity area? They charge a lot for it - what are the specific perks to using that area? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We will be on the Coral in April for 15 days - our first cruise - going westbound from Ft. Lauderdale through the Panama Canal to Los Angeles. We will be staying in a full suite.

The following comments are in no way meant to criticize those who purchase the Sanctuary...

It seems to me that we could enjoy our suite balcony without having to pay for the Sanctuary. Obviously there is no pool by our balcony, and no one there to wait on us...but that aside, for sheer relaxation, wouldn't our suite balcony do the trick? I'm wondering how folks staying in suites feel about paying extra for the Sanctuary. Also, we much prefer shade, and I don't think we'd stay in the Sanctuary (if we purchase it) for more than a portion of the day.

I would very much welcome those of you who are fans of the Sanctuary to sell us on why, for you, it's a worthwhile purchase. Perhaps, after hearing its virtues, we'll decide to get it. Thanks.
