Zika still a concern after hurricane Matthew?

Good morning everyone~

 

Just wondering what the word is in the Caribbean right now about the Zika virus. I thought I read some articles that hurricane Matthew helped resolve some of the Zika issues. Has anyone heard anything about the situation down there? Thanks in advance everyone!

We just got back from the Caribbean on the Royal Princess and they talked about taking precautions against it but no one that I talked to seemed concerned. I made sure I had mosquito repellent over my sunscreen just to be sure. But I normally do that anyway when going to the Caribbean.

Thanks. That is what we did the last time... Found some repellent that had high DEET content and had no issues. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any changes (good or bad) in regards to the Zika concerns.

We got an email from Royal and our travel agent the other day to pack bug spray. We leave on Monday for the Southern Caribbean.

We always carry those repellents whenever we are in a tropical weather. Better to be safe than sorry.

New cases are still being diagnosed here in Southwest Fl. One new case announced today. Better be safe then sorry!

I got the Zika warning email from Royal yesterday (I cruise next week).

 

Zika is not going anywhere and is unfortunately not a joke.

Actually many feel that Matthew might have made the Zika problem worse, because it deposited a lot of standing water in places didn't have it before. I hadn't seen anything about the situation becoming better.
