Advice from those who cruised ex UK in 2016 - dress code

We have booked Independence from Southampton for Sep 17. Our first every cruise was on that ship ex UK and formal nights were about 90% formal. I know times have changed since 2009 and that different destinations attract different levels of formality but was wondering from any ex UK cruisers who sailed in 2016 how formal were the formal nights.

 

We would like to dust off our Tuxs and the ladies like to wear their dressy clothes but wouldn't want to feel out of place if things have changed.

Bring the tux and dressy clothes. You won't be alone. I wouldn't say it's 90% formal any longer but there are still a large number of folks that dress up.

We sailed Indy last summer for 14 nights. It was fabulous how many people dressed up! Definitely plan on it! We ate in the MDR for each of the formal nights and dressed up too!

We did Indy in Sept '16. 99% of people in the MDR respected formal night with I would think about 50% in a tux. Personally, I only wear a suit, but that is fine. You won't look out of place in your finery!!

Wow, thanks that's really encouraging. Glad to see the ex UK crowd are not letting the side down. Our Mum n Sis will be very pleased they can dress up and people watch those in their finery.
