sunfl0wer Posted January 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2017 We have 2 nights pre-cruise next month in Dubai. I made my reservation for At the top/Sky for 17:00 on Saturday. I need to go to the 'will call' window for the tickets. Can anyone provide details on how it works after that? How long should I expect to queue to pick up the tickets? How long is the queue for the lift? The ticket says that you are only allowed 30 min on the 148th floor. How is this enforced? Sunset is at 18:10. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. After 30 minutes, you'll probably have had enough. It's one of the reasons why I've only gone up the Burj Khalifa once.
KarimaJ Posted January 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2017 30 minutes is plenty. I went right when they opened it for the public 6 years ago. We got tickets at the booth quickly and they shoot you up to the top so fast. It was good to do once.

We had At the Top/Sky(both 148th and 125th floors), and were told there were openings in the tour going up when we picked up our tickets. So if we wanted to go up early,we could go to the appropriate line at that time. They took us into a lounge to wait where Arabian coffee(like tea) and figs were served.(no queue)Within 10 minutes, we were escorted to the 148th floor via both elevator and escalator(passing queues) We were offered more sweets and drinks on the 148th floor viewing area(nice seating area if 1 person wants to rest while others check the views) We were left to view and return on our own. There are several separate viewing areas within the 148th floor: inside and outside, and telephoto options. Even though there are staff roaming the area, 30 minutes is not strictly enforced, but it is about all the time you need.
Steirisch Posted May 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2017 There are some YouTube videos showing what you will see, and I don't think this will spoil it for you. Apparently, because the tickets cost more to go to the 148th Floor, there are less people and not much, if any waiting. From my research, most people just go to 124/125, which you will also go to after 148.
Floridiana Posted June 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2017 We had no queue to pick up the tickets. Watch the time when you are supposed to be there for the escort. We were escorted to a waiting room where they served coffee and dates. A guide gave us explanations. From then on we always had a guide who gave us information and the time frame we had for the visit. You can stay on the lower platform a long time because it is large. There was a line going down from the lower platform because many people used that platform. They had not paid extra to go all the way up. The view is excellent from both platforms. If you are early, the part of the mall with the gold shops and the outside promenade are interesting. Local women wore long gowns and scarves, non Arab working women wore regular clothing but relatively covered up (air conditioning!), some of the European tourists wore inappropriate clothing, see through beach cover ups and strapless dresses. JoJo1973 Posted July 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2017 I only bought the ticket to 124/125 but stayed for a couple hours as arrived in late afternoon and stayed thru for sunset and dark (to watch the fountain show). Maybe they limit at the top.
