obnurse Posted January 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I felt compelled to share this information. On our last cruise we did a snorkeling excursion. One of the employees on the catamaran shared a wealth of information. The most important information she shared was how the coral reefs are dying quickly and that sunscreen containing oxybenzone is a major culprit. Of course there are other causes too, but if we can reduce the destruction simply by choosing a different sunscreen, then we all should be doing that. It breaks my heart to think the coral reefs are in danger. Sunscreens not containing oxybenzone are available at local retailers and not hard to find. Please read. Would love to hear comments, too! http://time.com/4080985/sunscreen-coral-reefs/
Robinsoncruiseso Posted January 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Coral safe sunscreen is easily found on Amazon. It is not inexpensive, but a little goes a long way. You do not need to use it while at the pool, but do please use when snorkeling or playing in the water. Please be considerate around the coral. Kudos for the OP for addressing this topic.
