Sport coats for men on formal nights???

Hi! We are RCI newbies and wonder if you can help us decide what is appropriate for formal nights. For the men, is a sport coat and dress pants OK? Is it OK for the men to not wear a jacket at all, but rather a dress shirt with slacks? Our last cruise was on Celebrity, another RCI brand, and they have changed their dress code. It is not necessary to wear a jacket of any kind. So... lots of confusion on our end. Thanks!!! :)

My DH would wear the jacket, but people are tending to dress down. Do as you wish, but with class.:)

On our carribean cruises we have adopted the practice of my husband wearing a nice shirt tie and dress pants on formal night. He no longer brings a coat. Perfectly acceptable.

On my last cruise I sailed without luggage(damn airline), and I ended up renting pants, shoes and a vest. It was $50 for the week. I am now, never ever going to bring dress shoes with me. I'll splurge the $15 rental cost. I wish I would have done this ages ago...

Last cruise my husband and son both did not wear a jacket but had a dress shirt and tie and nice pants. They both would only wear the jacket for pictures and then off it went. Saves so much room in the luggage.

So true about saving luggage space, especially since we always travel only with carry-on's. DH travelled a lot for business for years and got us all to travel light. Somehow we manage - lots of mixing and matching and remixing for me. This time we are traveling in two days ahead. I will be looking for the sheerest of my clothes for this trip, for sure!!
