Elite port lounge

Don't know about LA but usually it is one big room, you go to widows by Alphabetical order, get your ID and then you may board together. You may just wait on them, or Vis Versa after ID. It isn't all that bad a deal and although crowded at times it's not IMHO as bad as SW Airlines. Basically they funnel you toward the boarding ramp.

It has been quite a long time since Princess has sorted check-in windows alphabetically. More recently they had them sorted by deck number but nowadays you simply line up in either the priority line (for Platinum/Elite/Suite passengers) or non-priority lines and are sent to the next available agent when it is your turn. Now it is possible that the OP's companions may be able to glom onto them and check in together--but if arriving early and boarding has not started they will almost definitely receive different boarding group numbers and probably not be allowed into the separate waiting area for Elites.

Only people traveling in your cabin can use the Elite lounge with you in San Pedro. We have received one Elite boarding card for our cabin. The Elite waiting area is only for Elite and full suite passengers. There is a separate area for platinum passengers and a larger area for general passengers. The Platinum area is just a sectioned off seating area with no food or drinks. The Elite waiting area does have pastries and various beverages. We waited in the Platinum area with our friends a couple of years ago. On the 50th anniversary cruise there were over 400 Elites and there were actually three Elite boarding groups, a first for us in San Pedro.

We are traveling out of LAX, we have never taken a cruise with friends before. Are they able to stay with us at the port or do we have to separate into different waiting areas ?

Thanks in advance just trying to know what to expect.

You will wait separately in the separate areas. They can not board with you, but you can choose to board with them on their boarding time,

I agree with this information as it relates to LA embarkation. We usually travel with two other couples who are Elite and we take the same shuttle to the port from our town. Prior to the embarkation date, we now receive an email suggesting the time to arrive according to deck plans but on arrival, Princess personnel don't stop you just because you arrived early. After check-in, our friends always went to the Elite section of the big room and were allowed to board before the rest of us. With the next cruise in March, we will finally be Elite and will gain that same advantage.

100% correct when sailing out of San Pedro. They check everyone's boarding card before allowing them into each waiting area. Even for my Island Princess cruise in November, there were so many Elite (truly Elite and not guests other than sharing the same cabin or minors) that Elite boarded in groups. There just isn't room for guests as it's usually standing room only. Edited by Pam in CA
