6rugrats Posted February 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Suggest you go to Carnival board. No idea what "hidden fees" would be.
Sixtytwo Posted February 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Some folks call gratuities that are added to virtually every purchase on board "hidden fees". All fees are fully explained in your cruise documentation and are not hidden. Maybe not fully explained by your PVP or TA, but not hidden. Denise72 Posted February 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2017 I feel like Carnival nickels and dimes much less than other cruise lines. Once gratuities are paid it is entirely possible to not spend another penny if you so choose. Maybe not with kids, but otherwise entirely possible. ;p I have cruised on the Liberty and will be again in November. It is a great ship. Go with a positive attitude and you will have a blast. And read as much as you can here to learn before you cruise.

griffy116 Posted February 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2017 While they aren't hidden fees, maybe they are referring to the following things that aren't included in the fee for the cruise: (1) Tips. Each person is charged a fee (around $14 per day) for tips to the cabin steward and waitstaff. This fee includes each child. It's important to pay these tips as the staff depend on this as an important part of their wages. (2) Specialty restaurants. You can have every meal and snack in a FREE venue. Some choose to go to a restaurant that charges an additional fee. We've never found it necessary to eat at them. (3) Photos. A ship's photographer will be taking a photo when you board the ship, at dinner, at events around the ship. You don't have to buy any of them. Let them take your photo, go look at all of them at the end of the cruise (last day/night) and if you find one you like, you can buy it then.(4) Arcades. You can run up a VERY big tab with five kids in the arcade and it can happen quickly. You can choose to put a specific amount of $ on their SeaPass card and if they exceed it, they won't be able to charge further on it. You can even put 0 and they won't be able to charge at al.(5) Drinks. There's always a debate on whether it's worth it to buy the drink package. Look at the options and decide if it's worth it for you. This includes Soda cards for the kids. (6) Spa and Salon services. The price for the HIGH. I've used them a couple of times as a slurge, knowing ahead of time that the cost was going to hurt. (7) Casino. Not free. I always make a "donation" to the casino on every cruise (8) Sales on the pool deck and around the ship. t-shirts, watches, scarves, purses, etc will be sold. You're under no obligation to purchase these. (8) Bingo. I never realized how expensive it was because I'd never gone to play bingo before until I went with an elderly Aunt on a cruise. OMG...just not for me. (9) Excursions. You can purchase an excursion for your ports of call. There are a wide variety and the prices are minimal to not so minimal. Many ports are easy DIY to get around. Some excursions are best if booked through the cruise line. Look on your cruise planner to see what's available and you'll see the various tours and costs. You also have the option of booking a private tour outside of the cruise line. I'm sure I'm leaving out a few things, but we've found that these things are where the bulk of the money is spent after paying for the cruise fare. Hope this helps. imouer Posted September 6, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2017 One tip I would give you is to allow the kids to run free and have fun and relax they are in good safe hands and there's lots for them to do and they will be happy to get a break from you just the same Sent from my iPhone using Forums
