AnitaVacation Posted March 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2017 So, we just booked some studio cabins for our next 'girls cruise'....I saw on another post, someone said 'Do not miss the first solo gathering...you will get to hear about the 'perks' that come with the studio' Can someone elaborate?? I know there is a studio lounge....is there more? At this point, there are 3 of us...maybe more...so, not really 'solo travelers'
khaide612 Posted March 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2017 The solo coordinator will arrange dinner and show reservations for everyone to go as a group - almost acts as a concierge & cruise staff entertainment for the solo travelers. If you miss the first meeting, just find the solo coordinator and speak to them. They also put lists up in the lounge for sign-ups.
tiger-91 Posted March 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2017 There'll be a meeting for the solo travelers --- not just the ones in studios. They'll gather at a bar at the time noted in the paper daily schedule and be escorted down to the studio lounge. So no need to go to the bar first. It's generally a meeting for people traveling alone vs family or a lot of friends..... singles looking for other singles to hang out with at dinner or shows. It's not meant to be a hookup thing. Doesn't sound like anything you need to go to. unless you want more friends! Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
MeHeartCruising Posted March 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2017 Perhaps the most important perk you need to know about is that there are usually cookies or desserts of some sort in the studio lounge!
Thrilled2012 Posted March 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2017 I was in a similar situation to you when I was in a studio on the Epic. I had my own studio but was traveling with my parents and my children who had a balcony elsewhere on the ship. It was just more cost effective to do it this way than to get a suite for the 5 of us....and my kids were happy to spend time with their beloved grandparents. The only perk that I saw was the great lounge for singles and the arrangement of activities that solos could do as a group. I have to say, as a single mom, I took advantage of the time to socialize with other adults and I did let the rest of my family do things together while I joined some solo events (a rarity for me). There were sign up sheets for various activities...meals, excursions, entertainment, etc. Or you could just sit in the lounge and play a card game, have drinks, etc with other people. You will have your girlfriends, so you may not need to take advantage of this but you also may meet some more new friends in the lounge or through a solo planned activity and enjoy their company as well. I would love to do a "girls cruise". Have fun!
