Ok it is going to be much cheaper and a much quicker flight if we fly into and out of Fort Lauderdale. We fly in on Sunday the day before Labor Day.

1)We thought we would stay in Fort Lauderdale and then Uber or share a shuttle from The Hyatt Pier 66 to the POM. Our flight home is on a Friday, but does not leave until 8 P.M.

How much will all the Ubers, shuttles or taxis cost us from Ft. Lauderdale airport to hotel, hotel to POM and then returning POM to Fort Lauderdale airport?

2)Would it be easier and cheaper to just go straight from the Fort Lauderdale airport to a hotel in Miami Beach and then taxi to POM the next morning?

3)Should we just fly into and out of Miami?

The difference in flights is about $285.00 and 2 extra hours.

It depends on how many passengers. We are a family of 5 so for us it makes sense to just rent a van. We usually fly into FLL...stay somewhere between FLL and Miami and then head over to the port. The same is true on the way back. We purposely book a later flight in case there is a delay and we like to spend the day sightseeing in florida. So we rent a van again.

It is just two of us.

I just did this two weeks ago. The estimate for a taxi from Ft. Lauderdale airport to Miami airport hotel, Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon, was around $83 on two sites w/o tip. We took an UBER from the airport for $36 (I forget if that was with or without tip). They have a special area a few hundred feet down from the taxi stand just outside of baggage pickup. Were were picked up within a few minutes after I logged onto UBER app.

The common advice is to stay in the FLL area where hotels tend to be cheaper than comparable properties in Miami. You can shuttle from FLL area hotels to/from POM for about $15 per person each way (check with SAS, QLS, MJS, Go Airport and others) or use Uber (as suggested above) for about $40.

http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info.
