MNYTRPS2GO2,
Yes, Safeco Field is located about 1/2 mi. from Terminal 30, which is where Princess and Holland America homeport from. More information about Terminal 30 can be found at Port of Seattle's website. You shouldn't have any problem checking into your hotel, getting on your Mariner's gear and getting back to Safeco before the game. Where are you staying? You are going to love Safeco. Walk around and enjoy the stadium on the 100 Level while watching the game. You'll have to let me know your comparison of it and Camden (assuming you've been there). Any questions, holler.

Linda,

I just paid my final balance for the August 22 cruise. We will have to plan to meet somewhere.

Thanks marlinmike for giving us our first look at the Sapphire.

yanceycruiser - when are you arriving/departing Seattle before/after the cruise? maybe we could meet before the cruise even - but definitely on the Sapphire... do you have your room assignments yet? we're on the Lido...

saw her again today on my way home...I wonder why people were honking their horns at me...just because i slowed down on the bridge to look??

we booked with Capt Larry in Juneau today..any shore excursions picked yet?

I'm not so sure about the Mariner's gear..I was born and raised in Red Sox country and now live surrounded by Phillie Phans..
We have been to Camden Yards in Baltimore but closer to home our Phillies just opened a beautiful new ballpark. Although it's not Fenway Park (but to me no park is Fenway)it is a nice looking park and very fan friendly.
We are looking forward to spending the afternoon at Safeco and getting to see yet another ballpark.

Been to Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Ballpark at Arlington and Edison Field. We've been talking about Camden and those in that area but would like to match it up with an M's tour. If you have time after the game, hang around and see what it's like with the roof closed (if it's not raining that day). They test close it about 15 minutes after every game. Have a good time and let me know your opinion (mike@marlinmike(dot)com).

Thanks for the info on the roof closing. When we went to a Bluejays game in Toronto, watching the roof close was the highlight of our trip to the park. It's the little thing that amuse us !!
We have visited many of the east coast ballparks. Years back we almost made it Aneheim's ballpark but when we got there that night we found out the tickets were for a day game .
If you really are a baseball fan some of the best times we had were at Spring Training games in Florida.
To make this cruise related, I can't wait to board the Sapphire and visit Seattle and Safeco.

Linda,

We will be flying into Seattle from Edmonton on the morning of the cruise. We are visiting friends there first before cruising.

I don't know if I mentioned it before but we switched in mid stream from the Celebrity Infinity out of Vancouver to this ship just in the past month or so. We are on the Plaza Deck.

We also booked Capt Larry for the 3PM whale watching excursion. Are you on this excursion. My wife doesn't know about it yet. I don't plan to tell her until we board. We went on one of these in Hawaii on our 25th Anniversary and we have been whale fans ever since.

We celebrated our 40 Anniversary this past January and this cruise and the whale watching excursion is my gift to her.

Don - yes yes...we just booked the Capt Larry 3 p.m. trip...we were given a gift certificate for it so booked directly with them but we'll be there with you! Wow, nice anniversary present..we'll celebrate our 13th anniversary on the cruise...it's on the 31st and my birthday's on the 30th so we're moving the celebrations up a couple days

Are you leaving right after the cruise returns or staying in Seattle a bit?

Don't you love the pictures that were posted today? It "kills" me to drive past her on my way to work every day!!

Linda,

I just messed up my surprise to my wife by showing her your email telling about the whale watching, etc. Oh well, she was excited to know that we are booked.

We won't be staying in Seattle overnight, however, I regret not planning to. We are flying back to Edmonton at 2:30 pm after arriving back in port for a conference then flying back home.

Pat and I really enjoyed the pictures. The ship reminds us of the Grand Princess which was a wonderful cruise.

We will be crusing with our friends from Edmonton along with six members of their family. These folks are youngsters like you and your husband. We met them on our third cruise and had such a great time that we met again for the 4th, 5th, and now this one.

Let's plan to meet once we are on board for either breakfast or lunch.

Gee, Don, I hope it wasn't my fault you messed up!! I'm glad to hear she's excited about the whale watching.

Thanks for thinking we are youngsters...we both qualify for the 55+ dinners at restaurants...I did nearly divorce Gene when he turned 50 and signed me up for AARP with him!!!

We're meeting some friends from Minneapolis on this cruise who are going with a group from there so sounds like we'll have lots of new friends.

Yes, breakfast or lunch on the ship sounds good. Looking forward to meeting you and Pat.

..it's cold and rainy and windy here in Seattle and supposed to stay that was all weekend..High of 60! Oh well, I'm sure they'll stay warm anyway on the weekend cruise.

Linda,

Of course it wasn't your fault...it was a senior moment on my part wanting to show her the irony that we were going on a whale watching cruise with you and your husband.

But, I'm now glad she knows since it gives her something to really look forward to.

We've met some real nice people on previous cruises and still keep in touch with three couples. You and your husband will have a wonderful time and wonder why you waited so long to cruise. We didn't take our first until our 30th Anniversay and wish we had started earlier.

We look forward to the breakfast or dinner. We can talk more about it as time gets closer.
By the way, how far is it from the airport to the ship?

Let's continue to keep in touch on this thread. Pat and I have three children and 4 2/3 grandchildren. Our son has four children and oldest daughter is expecting her first on August 1.

Linda,

Really appreciate your kind offer of meeting us at the ship if we weren't cruising that day.
Tomorrow we will be down to ten weeks and that will go by faster than we realize.

We are having a house built so that helps occupy a lot of our time now. Plus work still has its challenges since we converted to a new computer system.

If you would like we can correspond over the next ten weeks by email or continue on this post.

Have a good weekend.

HI Don and Pat ...sure, we can do email...since I can't figure it out you'll have to start it....
Raining here now in Seattle...it was gorgeous until about 4:30....Diamond was still at the dock when I was down at the beach about that time ...

Linda,

Good point. I don't know how to start the email process without posting my email here for all to see. Let me give it some thought.

We are having heavy rains here this evening.

Pat and I are leaving Wednesday morning for a three day conference in Savannah and will return on Sunday so I will be off the boards for those few days.

We can continue corresponding and planning our cruise on this thread until we figure out something.

Have a good week. By the way, what do you and Gene do for a living?
