Wine tours

Took a ship's winery tour to Sonoma because we couldn't find an independent tour in SF that worked for our ship's time in port from 1000 to 2000.

In SB we booked an independent less expensive & better winery tour to the Santa Ynez Valley wine country.

I didn't find any wine tour that we liked in SD & instead visited the aircraft carrier USS Midway & Old Town.

In Santa Barbara you can walk the Urban Wine Trail from the ship. We typically visit a few wineries and then do some shopping.

Napa and Sonoma are quite a drive from San Francisco. Depending upon how much time you are in port I would possibly consider a Princess tour. Several times we have stopped at a tasting room or two while walking around San Francisco.

I think of San Diego as more of a craft beer town and although I have stopped at several area wineries, I have never done a wine tour there. No offense, but I believe there are better wines in Temecula which is really too far for a day tour when in port.

The Princess winery tour in Ensenada, Mexico, was astonishingly good. The wines at LA Cetto winery were wonderful, and the tasting was done in a nice way, with beautiful glasses. Fantastic!

Also did a fantastic Princess winery tour in New Zealand, with visits to Abbey Cellars, Mission Estates, and Ngatarawa Winery. Five wines at each! I am embarrassed to say that I drank too much😊

Great times😌

This is the tour that we went on with Astro Flyer, http://www.deetoursofsb.com/wine-tour/

It was a lot of fun. We have also done the Urban Walking tour in Santa Barbara http://urbanwinetrailsb.com/

There's also a really neat courthouse in Santa Barbara and lots of fun shops and restaurants.

I wasn't aware of the courthouse until our most recent day in SB after discovering that it's the #1 rated thing to do on TripAdvisor & enjoyed the free docent led tour very much. From the top of the clock tower there's a great 360° view of Santa Barbara including the ship anchored offshore.
