Visa issues from Singapore

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm a Bangladeshi and i recently booked Mariner of the Seas from Singapore on 3rd November in a 3 day cruise that goes to port klang, malaysia then returns to Singapore. As Bangladeshi, i will require visa for Singapore for both singapore and malaysia. But i dont plan to get offboard while we're in port klang.

At what point in time do they check for malaysian visa? which boarding or while leaving ship at port klang?

regards

I don't know. That said, unless the cruise line is providing the visas I am going to guess that they will check your passport and visas when you board the ship if you are required to get them on your own.

Did you book thru a travel agent? If you did I would ask them.

Good luck.

they check for the proper visas at check-in. You will not be allowed to board the ship if you don't have all the required permits. This happened to many people years ago when Mariner was leaving Port Canaveral to go to Asia. The ship was sailing around South America and a few (quite a few) decided they didn't need the Brazilian Visa as they just wouldn't get off the ship. Well, they missed the ship. RCI was more than generous to get a bus and bus them to the Brazilian embassy in Miami, find a hotel overnight for them, but I think they had to get their own airfare to catch up with the ship at the next port of call. A few decided just to cancel their cruise and not go.

First, when the ship is in dock, you are still in that country. Different countries have different rules. There is a very strong possibility that you will not be allowed to board if you don't have the proper paperwork. Unless the ship specifically states you don't need it.

Example. St Petersburg Russia. The Russian government has a special tourist rules for people on Cruise Ships. They must be on an escorted tour for the special rules to apply, or if you want to visit on your own, you need a visa. Staying on the ship is ok.
