Wifi on board ship for internet connection on sea days

I'm asking about use of wifi on board ship to connect to the internet on sea days - is the connection any good? I used the wifi on another line on a cruise in the Canary Islands last year and it was a waste of time, the speed was so slow I gave up. I'm not concerned about shore days as I will be able to use my UK mobile telephone package which now gives free roaming in most Continental Europe and Nordic countries. It's just that the upfront cost is not cheap, so I'm wondering whether this means the service will be good, or best not to bother!

 

If it's relevant, travelling on the Jade to Northern Europe & Scandinavia.

I've only cruised NCL in the Caribbean, but in my experience it is very expensive and very slow. Still, maybe others with experience on the ship and in that area will have more accurate info.
